Personal history

Elgieran was once a human scientist by the name of Julius Renting. On Earth, he exceled in all academics in his education, most notably in the natural sciences. He was fascinated with DNA and ancestry, and pursued every scrap of knowledge on it, eventually making his own discoveries and breakthroughs. At 40, he had surpassed the lead researcher in genetics, recreating a woolly mammoth by re-writing an elephant's DNA, and many experiments in gene splicing and chimera animals. While he mostly made chimeras as domestic pets or beasts of burden, the military became interested in the possible applications. He began creating beasts of war, and found himself in positions of trust with higher authorities. He was the lead researcher chosen to study the biology of the (RJ's book). At the height of his career, he was notified of an unbelievable discovery; a dragon had been found frozen deep in the ice of the North Pole, the entire body preserved in the ice. The dragon was(dragon physical). All of his research was put on hold. He attempted to find out the dragon's ancestry through it's DNA, but found no connections to any animals on Earth. He traced where the dragon lived to be in a region around western Europe. As he studied the dragon, he started to become almost a recluse, obsessing over it. Where did it come from, and why was it so far up north? He could not find out much, but he did make a breakthrough after nearly a year of failed theories and experiments. He discovered the dragon was immortal. It could be killed, but it never aged. Julius had always been afraid of his mortality, and he was nearing 60 years old, and it would start to show soon. He had already extended his life by the discoveries he had made during his career, but he could not prevent it. Then, he had an idea. Julius Renting destroyed the corpse of the dragon, keeping only a small portion of it, then disappeared. In secret, and with the government looking for him he isolated what made the dragon immortal, then spliced it with his own DNA. With his new immortality he, he became even more ambitious, and began creating a human-dragon chimera species with what remained of the dragon for him to rule. He was eventually found and arrested, with his greatest crime being creating a human chimera, which had been made illegal shortly after he first started creating chimeras. He was, as his punishment, sent away with his new species to be used in experimental colonization techniques and deep space travel. After several years, he and his creations landed on their new world. Julius abandoned his old name, choosing Elgeraan instead, and called the planet Sefrin, and his new species the Drakons.
