The Dragons' Vault

The Great Game of the Dragon

The Dragon's Vault is an artificial planet that rests in Dragonian Space. After finding it, Elgeraan decided to use it as a penal colony, sending criminals of lesser crimes to reside there for their sentences. In the last years of his rule, Elgeraan repurposed the world as a vault for his Abnerak artifacts and other valuables, then created a labyrinth leading to the central chamber filled with trials. He told the criminals who lived there that if they reached the main chamber, they would be free. He also invited anyone who wished to try to enter his vault. The labyrinth is incredibly dangerous however, and almost nobody who enters comes back out. But the artifacts contained within draw people in nonetheless, and Elgeraan watches and waits to personally congratulate them on finishing.

Geography

A lush world, but with one large source of water. The terrain is dominated by mountain ranges and lush plains. The mountains are full of forests, and streams which flow down to the plains creating lakes and rivers in them. The plains are relatively flat and close to sea level, with some hills scattered throughout. The Ocean on this world is a giant lake that covers 1/3 of the planet's surface. The poles are icy regions full of snow and blizzards, where the mountain ranges all connect to each other. Scattered across the surface are large hexagonal structures of an obsidian black. These structures are used to reach the Vault below the surface.  A strange trait of the Geography is that when looking at it with a map, it is oddly symmetrical. If the ocean were placed in the center of the map, the poles are exactly the same distance from it. The mountain ranges  make two arcs placed the same distance apart reaching from pole to pole on each side of the ocean, with the planes between each. All of this combined makes the planet look like an eye.

Ecosystem

The mountains of this world are full of massive, green leafed trees, containing large populations of birds and long limed animals that climb between them. The trees cover a large portion of the mountain ranges, only stopping at the highest points of the mountains and at the poles. On the ground between the trees is a dark landscape, most of the sunlight being blocked out. Down here are short grasses, and shrubs which grow in patches of sunlight that leak down from the canopy above. Rivers run between the trees as well, traveling down from springs and out into the plains where they join together and either create lakes or flow into the ocean. Across the plains are fields of tall grass, with large stumpy trees in the regions further from the rivers and lakes. surrounding the lakes are swampy marshes, with trees that are raised on stilt-like roots and reedy grasses. These swamps are where most of the land based animal life on the planet is located.
