Location: Off the northwest shore of Aorlan

Description: The Strait of Skaderak, situated off the northwest coast of Aorlan, separates the colossal island of Skaderak from the mainland of Aorlan. Formed during the Great Cataclysm, it's a testament to the titanic forces that violently ripped apart Raios, creating an enormous underwater rift. This cataclysmic event also gave rise to the towering Skaderak Range in the west and the Andunoros Range in the east. This event casted devastation upon the surrounding lands by frequent tsunamis generated by the enormous earthquakes which rocked the land.

Water Characteristics: These saline waters moderate the air temperature in the immediate area so that it resembles lands much farther to the south. A strong warm current, flowing up out of the south and through the strait, provides for much the unusually warm surface temperatures in this area.

Geography and Geology: Navigating the strait safely can prove to be a perilous endeavor. Earthquakes still shake the region, sometimes spawning massive rogue waves that can capsize even the sturdiest vessels. Despite the passage of over 1,200 years since the Great Cataclysm, the strait continues to widen incrementally, providing a constant reminder of the cataclysmic forces that birthed it.

Climate and Weather Patterns: Violent storms frequently descend from the north, especially during the winter, adding to the treacherous conditions one can experience in these waters.

Marine Life: Abundant fish live in the strait but due to its isolation, no one fishes here. Legend speaks of mythical creatures lurking in its depths, remnants of a time when magic and chaos held sway. Sailors whisper of sea serpents and krakens, guardians of the deep, adding to the mystique and danger of these unforgiving waters.

Cultural & Historical Significance: The Strait of Skaderak formed at the beginning of the Great Cataclysm when a great rift began to open along the northern coast of Aorlan.
