Andunoros Range
Pronunciation: ANN-dune-oros
Map Index: A-4, B-3, B-4, C-3
Location: The mountain range extends along the western coast of Aorlan opposite the great island of Skaderak
Geography: The Andunoros Mountains, born from the tumultuous events of the Great Cataclysm, stretch along the northwest coast of Aorlan. These youthful peaks, shaped by violent earthquakes during their formation, remain sharp and rugged. Towering, snow-clad summits dominate the northern reaches. Frequent earthquakes and occasional landslides continue to shape the landscape, as the Andunoros Mountains continue to slowly grow ever higher. Today the mountains range from 1,200 to 4,200 feet in elevation.
Primary Population: None
Secondary Population: None
Minor Population: Valtauri
Climate: The winters are cold and harsh with abundant snow. The winds roar over these mountains through much of the year. Summers are cool and brief.
Wildlife: With the mountain ecosystem so recent, there are only a limited number of species of animals that live in these rugged peaks. Western mountain goats and big horned sheep ply the steep slopes, hoping to keep away from the ever hungry saber toothed tigers that range through the lower slopes.
Humanoids: This vast wilderness harbors an air of mystery, devoid of humanoid settlements. The lack of inhabitants allows nature to flourish undisturbed, fostering enigmatic creatures yet to be studied. The resilient vegetation clings to steep slopes, adapting to the challenging terrain. The region's treacherous areas pose threats to any daring to explore.
Monsters: Tales talk of strange earth elementals dancing on the peaks.
History: The mountian's origins get traced back to the Great Cataclysm. At this time great earthquakes wracked the land. The Strait of Skaderak began to get suddenly wider as a great slab of bedrock was thrust upward. As the earthquakes continued, new fractures in the crust appeared, and more rock rose skyward.
Today: The Andunoros Mountains stand as a formidable, untamed realm, shrouded in mystery and danger, inviting only the boldest adventurers to unveil its secrets.
