Girith Khemon
Pronunciation: GEAR-ith KEM-mon
Map Index: G5, H5
Location: Northwest Centakus
Geography: The rough, rocky terrain of Girith Kemon presents a treacherous and unforgiving environment. Fractured roughhewn hills and jagged cliffs stand amid scree covered slopes. These features dominate the landscape amid debris filled valleys. With the land a labyrinth of jagged rocks and fractured boulders, navigation and travel by foot presents great difficulties for any who dare attempt to traverse its desolate expanse. Girith Khemon lies on a wide peninsula jutting northward from northwestern Centakus that is isolated from the desolate, wind swept Bhoras Desert by the narrow Strait of Aklon. This great transform fault, a remnant of the cataclysmic events that transformed the landscape, creates a long and thin natural barrier of water. This further isolates the region, making it even more inaccessible and treacherous. The air is filled with swirling dust, and the ground frequently trembles with loud virations as earthquakes continue to shake up this land.

Climate: The land of Girith Kemon is characterized by a hot arid climate. Rainfall is rare and fresh water of any kind exists only underground. With no plant cover to provide cooling shade, the land swelters under an unforgiving sun that forces most of the lifeforms in this land to be nocturnal.
Wildlife: Girith Kemon's vegetation is scant, with only a few scattered hardy plants capable of surviving the hot and harsh, arid conditions. The whole region, mostly devoid of life, harbors burrowing insects, small vermin and multitudes of lizards and snakes. No larger wildlife exists in this forsaken land.
Humanoids: The only permanent humanoid inhabitants of this land are the Ratfolk. These four feet tall rat-like humanoids descend from humans that were corrupted by chaos storms. The region receives only the occasional traveler briefly passing through. Few dare to stay in this perilous land for long, and those who do must endure constant challenges brought about by the unforgiving environment.
The Turoch, gorilla-like humanoids, occasionally ride into Girith Knemon.
Monsters: Little is known for certain about this land. Travelers who claim to have traveled into this land report the presense of horrid abominations and undead humanoids haunting the land.
History: Once a prosperous province in the heart of the old Kishari Empire known as Aklon, Girith Kemon stands today as a desolate and shattered land. The Great Cataclysm wrought absolute devastation upon the province. Massive earthquakes reduced once-thriving cities to rubble while vast areas quickly sank below sea level. Chaos storms of immense power and violence then followed, claiming the lives of the last survivors.
Today: The region known as Girith Kemon, remains a haunting reminder due to its tragic past. The old cities of Aklon lie hidden, buried beneath thick layers of rubble. The large, devastating earthquakes that destroyed this province still wrack the land frequently, making it a dangerous place unlike any other in the world. Amid these relentless earthquakes, frequent chaos storms still form or blow in from the south and east, rendering the region inhospitable to all but the hardiest of creatures.
