Fern once took an insider in once and he didn’t contribute to the pack and ran away leaving the pack that took him in and fed him! This incredibly disgracful display has him hesitant around outsiders to let another one in.
Magnolia remembers when he used to be so much more easy going.

Fern covers himself and his antlers in wooden jewlery carved by his mate. On causual occations he wears wooden armor and thin green cloth.
Specialized Equipment
Fern wears a wooden circlet and necklace that reprsent his status as leader, they were carved and made to never come off.

Personal history
When Fern was younger he had not dreamed of being the future leader of the Wooded Hallow. As a youngling he trained and practiced tending young trees and how to guide them into specific shapes as they grew.
When he got older he took the role of structuring and planning the growth of new walls and new trees in the village.
Employment
A young Fern was trained in the art of Arborsculpture and worked to shape trees in whatever shape needed as they grew.
Fern was taken in as the previous leader's student, when the previous leader was moving up to join the ranks of the Circle of Roots.
Failures & Embarrassments
Fern believes that letting Trice join the pack was one of his greater failures. He feels responsible, in part, for the abduction of Magnolia's daughter.

Fern believes humans are evil, a direct opposite of all that is natural, and a force created to destroy nature.

He desires to keep his people safe no matter the cost. He wants to grow the strength and size of the Wooded Hallow as a force to be reckoned with, imposing and threatening to those who would wish harm on it.
Fern's paranoia of the outside world grew at the obduction of oddcrura children, and his need to protect his people at the birth of his own children.
