The relationship of the URF and the ZCT is a continuation of the relationship between the Kingdom of Ox and the Zanian Confederated Tribes.
Kindlo Reformma's ambitious goal of opening the empire to the rest of the world has always made him stand out from his peers. After securing notable amounts of ports and resources from the invasion of the Bírs, he and his close advisers had sent several ships to see how the outside world has changed.
His first two attempts at sending voyages west had resulted in failure. However, the third voyage east had made it back with reports of an unidentified landmass with docked vessels (presumably merchant or fishing boats) which appeared to be made of wood! More importantly, the docks appeared to have living entities on them. Those entities appeared to match the descriptions of human beings.
Despite the major discovery, the next course of action was unclear. Some members of the council wanted to enforce the kingdom's might upon the Fleshing using their navy to intimidate them into submission, but a majority of the council favored a more diplomatic stance.
On 6/20/1006, Lampian ships landed on foreign soil for the first time in five hundred years.
