First Infernian Civil War

The First Infernian Civil War (May 30, 523– February 2, 536; known previously as the Civil War) was a civil war in the Inferno Empire between the Loyalist (regions that remained loyal to the imperial Magmus Dynasty government), and the Crowners (regions that sided with the Eternia Dynasty). From 525-532, there was a third minor faction called the Great Mountainian Nation which attempted to use the chaos to secede from the empire to create an ethno-state for the Mountain Lampian culture to thrive in.    The central cause of the war was the status of which dynasty should rule the nation, especially the extending of the isolationist policies acquired as a result of the Seprata Rula and the failure of the 496-497 Candelae-Lampian Border War. On the eve of the Civil War in 536, six million of the 53 million Lampians were killed as a result of combat or starvation.

The Conflict

Prelude

The Magmus dynasty's rule was first established by Yiyad Magmus after victory at the First Siege of Ignis Civitatem in 425. The rule of the Magmus dynasty was briefly interrupted in 494 after a successfully coup lead by the Eternia Dynasty put the Eternia Dynasty back in power for a few years. The Magmus Dynasty would regain power due to the humiliating defeat of the 496-497 Candelae-Lampian Border War causing the Eternia Dynasty losing support of the Empire. After regaining power once again, the Seprata Rula was signed in 498. This radical change in foreign policy led to more distrust the more expansionist and reformist factions in the Imperial Council. In the following decades, tensions rose when the current Magmus Emperor died without a male heir. In his place, the Imperial Council elected a member of the Eternia Dynasty to become the next emperor. However, before he was even crowned emperor, the Councilmen who voted for an Magmus leader held a separate election and voted Urtto Magmus as the true emperor. After many small skirmishes across the Empire, the Loyalists seceded from the Empire when the Sepila Constitution was signed in September 12, 523; officially starting the Civil War.
