Dangit Orchards

The lemons grown in Dangit Orchards are known throughout the Gri'x for their superior taste, excessive juice content, long shelf life, and satisfyingly bimply rinds. While not a large operation, this was one of the first farms established when the Twis'tangle expansion settled into the agricultural realm. The Dangit family chose their land well--the orchard is dimensionally downstream from an underground cocoon of an enormous tartworm. The creature's tangy, sour excretions have been leaching into the soil since the inception of the Gri'x itself (or possibly before), giving the lemons an exquisite, intense flavor not to be found in fruits of any other field.   The Dangit family retired and moved to Santa Pez some decades ago, prompting an attempted land-grab by Serious Lemons, Inc, a large corporate operation. Hamm Dangit chose to stay and defend the orchard himself rather than allow "those besuited grabby juggernauts" to taint the family's name or subjugate his beloved trees to straight rows.   For many years, Hamm ran the entire farm, tending the trees and defending the property, by himself. (Visitors should take care when traversing the orchard, as he has become adept at setting inventive snares and traps to discourage corporate lackeys, spies, and sight-seers.)   He's recently acquired some help, though. The entire congregation of The Spent took up residence in the (formerly) abandoned barn. An amusing series of coincidences convinced them that Hamm is the reincarnation of their deceased founder, and as they came to his defense at an opportune moment, he allows them to stay on so long as they stay out of the way and do their share of the work (see Hamm's profile for the whole story).   Fresh Dangit Orchard lemons may be purchased once a month at Hamm's small booth in the Crating Farmer's Market. He does not accept Coin, so customers should be prepared to barter with good-quality farming tools, work clothing, and handmade edible preserves. He occasionally accepts interesting trinkets as well, as he enjoys giving small presents to his followers.
