Astroauric Singe

“Every man and woman is a star.”
— Aleister Crowley

“Wait, does that mean that stars can also be—AUUURRRGH HOT HOT HOT!”
—someone meeting a stellar dream form for the first time

Stars are sentient beings.   Stars can dream.   In their dreams, Stars can choose another form, so they can go anywhere that anyone else goes.   Stars love to meet other sentient beings.   Stars are hot.   Very, very hot.   Even in their dreams.
Looking at them from a distance, they seem so small: just tiny pinpricks of light spanning across the galaxies like spilled glitter. But their essence—their physical and spiritual energy—is enormous. Despite the size of the body in which they might choose to manifest, you can only pull that kind of energy in so far. When a stellar dreamer comes to call, its natural aura is going to spill out, resulting in a very physical astroauric singe blackening everything in the vicinity.   It’s not like the Stars mean any harm. They seem like a pretty nice bunch, really. There’s certainly no record of a visiting Star attacking anyone. But stellar society and culture is so wildly different from that of the majority of the other citizens and settlements in the Gri’x, communication is a challenge, so we’re not really sure.   It’s likely that most stellar dreamers don’t even realize that they’re doing any damage. When you live your whole life in flames, as flames, it may be inconceivable that they aren’t supposed to be everywhere, like a fish doesn’t know that it’s wet. Stellar dreamers just stand there in whatever physical form they’ve made for themselves, their auras shining like the dickens, observing their surroundings with a bemused smile as things start to smolder around them.
“Fire? What fire? Oh, that little thing? Why, it’s barely warm.”
— What a visiting Star might say, if they could understand what the screaming was about
Luckily, local temperature control and fire extinguishment are two of the first basic starter spells a Somnicist picks up. Heck, most children can manage those tricks. As stellar dreamers tend to gravitate toward populated areas (perhaps they just come to people-gaze?), there’s usually someone around to counteract the effects before things get out-of-hand.   Should you ever meet a Star visiting your fair plane in their dream, go ahead and introduce yourself. They’re likely to be quite personable. Just don’t go in for a handshake.
