Zakina Falenmir

While she isn't physically strong, Kina is incredibly dexterous and as a result of being double-jointed, she's able to contort her body effortlessly. She's pear shaped with a slender upper body and a thicker, lightly toned lower body. She's athletic, in peak health, and doesn't fall ill often.

Her left ear is pierced twice. She has a rune of protection tattooed on the back of her neck and has a matching tattoo with Rikius of maple leaves and lilac flowers on her right wrist. Her body has several markings scattered about it and a soft patch of fur on her chest.

She has a short face dotted with freckles. Her eyes are bright and large and she has a hooked nose. She has plump, heart-shaped lips that are usually painted in some shade of purple. Her jawline is heart-shaped as well.

Her big, bright eyes and cat-like ears that seem too big for her head. Kina's tail is usually the center of people's attention, as well as her incredibly short stature compared to her family and friends.

Gives someone her full attention when they're speaking, doing so by turning her body to face them or leaning in close. Kina likes to be physically close to people in general, always sidling up beside friends and family or following closely behind them. She's incredibly short and very emotive, so it's hard for her to hide what she's feeling. She's also much warmer than most mortals because catfolk naturally have a higher body temperature.

Kina is capable of turning invisible at will and can teleport through shadows that are no more than 100 ft apart. While she doesn't do it often, she can pin enemies in place by stepping into their shadow. If they fail to free themselves, they're left vulnerable to being possessed by Kina or Iolond. She can shroud herself in shadows and hide anywhere, even in broad daylight. During combat, she can attack from afar by reaching through the shadows and striking her enemies.   She never leaves tracks behind and can travel through hazardous or difficult terrain without being slowed down. Kina can also walk on water so long as she's able to stop on solid land. After Velevana was defeated, Sabella granted Kina's wish to have an extended lifespan. With her divine abilities, she's able to transfer someone else's magical effects onto herself by striking them. Through this, she can also learn their weaknesses, even if it's a divine flaw.   Kina can read the minds of sapient creatures or send a wave of psychic energy at her enemies. She has a telepathic bond with her husband, which they gained during the Trials of Xibalba. She gained a permanent "tongues" spell effect from Pandemonius, as well as a planar adaptation to the Plane of Time. Kina is under the constant effects of "non-detection" and her aura is permanently hidden due to a trade she made in the Library of Forbidden Knowledge.

Dresses in very feminine and fun clothes. Not fond of pants, so she prefers dresses and skirts, usually with leggings or thigh high socks underneath. She doesn't shy away from bold patterns or bright colors, topping every outfit off with a necklace and bracelets.

Storm's Blessing: An ornate set of claw caps made out of adamantine and inlaid with gemstones. These were crafted by Lucky Kociak and then enchanted by Lucky and Elathera Clearwater. The claw caps allow Kina to deal precision damage to anything, including creatures that are normally immune to that type of damage.   The Mask of Lochoria: Taken from the village of Ankasi after the party had dreams of Lochoria's impending death. The mask allows the wearer to slip into the In-Between, making them non-detectable by any means, including magic and supernatural abilities. Anyone wearing the mask is unable to physically interact with the world. Unfortunately, the mask was destroyed in the Far Realms.   The Flourished Feather: Nothing of great importance, but still an item Kina treasures deeply. When writing with the quill, everything appears to be written in a beautiful, cursive font.   Tenshi: A cat shaped psicrystal that Kina was gifted during the Trials of Xibalba. She later had it animated and enchanted for personal purposes. Tenshi is used for communication between Kina and her family, who have smaller psicrystals that are connected to Tenshi.

Zakina was the firstborn of two former gangsters, Kraughton and Asri. Her childhood was fraught with physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother. Asri wanted an heir to her madness, but Kina was too resilient and refused to accept her twisted beliefs. Even after she was tortured and left for dead, Kina's compassion never faltered. She made a promise to herself that she would never become her mother, no matter what. Because of Asri's neglect, Kina took on a maternal role for her younger sisters. On her sixteenth birthday, Asri gifted her an heirloom dagger and disappeared during the night.   Kina was unfortunately consumed by the same restless spirit that haunted Asri. For several years, she joined her cousin and the Belladonnas on the road. It was through them that she met a tengu named Valerie, who she had a toxic relationship with until Catrina died under mysterious circumstances. Kina was the only witness to her cousin's death, leading some of her family to push her away out of suspicion that she was responsible. Valerie announced that she was pregnant with their child shortly afterwards, giving Kina a reason to live. They rekindled their romance, but it was more toxic than ever. While Kina turned to drugs to cope with everything, Valerie lied and said she had a miscarriage to destroy her ex further.   Krag didn't allow Kina to come home because of her rampant drug use, and her cousin's girlfriend, who she viewed as her mentor, turned her back on her to deal with her own grief. With nothing left to lose, Kina embraced her wanderlust and set out to find the "city of nobodies" from an old catfolk tale. It was in Nevarre that she befriended an archdruid despite the other residents' protests. Grendishi spent the next year nursing Kina back to health. Unable to live in the village due to their xenophobic views, Kina returned to Florence. Isolated from her family, it didn't take long before she relapsed.   While buying drugs one afternoon, Kina witnessed a terrorist attack during a city parade. In all of the chaos, she met several people who would go on to become close friends of hers, namely Industria Cellini and Elathera Clearwater. They worked together to apprehend the terrorists and uncovered plans for more attacks within Florence's walls. They were recruited into the military together, where she met her eventual husband, Rikius Falenmir, while on a mission. Kina sobered up, reunited with her family, and saw the war through until its official end. After the war concluded, her friends helped her resurrect Catrina. Eventually, she was able to reunite with the child she thought she lost years prior.   In the Underdark, she unintentionally became the living phylactery of her ancestor, Lucky Kociak. After many adventures and tragedies, Kina was one of the founding members of the Society of Free Thinkers. The group was dedicated to rewriting the rules of reality to be fair to everyone, regardless of their morality in life. The Society of Free Thinkers went on to put an end to eternal punishments, allowing anyone to seek redemption if they wanted to. They successfully reached Atmeos and changed reality, putting safeguards in place to prevent any deity from gaining too much power.   Zakina now spends her time building a family with her husband, as well as writing when she can. She's a published author most known for her series "Destiny's Dwelling", which is based upon the adventures she's had throughout her life. She's also a key member of a secret society called the Grove of Foxes. Their mission is to preserve artistic works of historical or scientific importance. She's the proprietor of Chasing Tales, a bookstore and writing workshop in Florence, and an orphanage. After her part in an insurrection on the Isles of Basilla, Kina rules the nation alongside her husband.   Together, they founded the Basillian Council and have ruled the nation for over a century, although their titles have mostly become ceremonial in recent decades. Upon her death, Kina is slated to become the next archangel of Iolond.

Kina's father was unable to afford proper schooling for his children. She was homeschooled by her grandmother, who covered the core subjects of education, such as reading and writing. She also taught the sisters basic survival skills. Kina's education changed intermittently over the years, which allowed her to be well-rounded in many different skills. It also gave her the opportunity to focus on the things that truly interested her.   She has extensive knowledge about dungeoneering, engineering, as well as animal rearing. Her cousin helped further her education when she could. She taught Kina about all kinds of creatures, especially fey. Because she grew up on a farm, she knows about crops and their appropriate care, but she isn't interested in agriculture.

Zakina served as a frontline soldier and skilled spy in the Caelsimilian military. Though her service was brief, she played a key role in ending the war between Caelsimil and Teme-Rasadar. She also witnessed the treaty signing between both nations. Some time after the war, she ended the life of her mother, notorious serial killer Asri Kociak. She then traveled through the Underdark to save a friend's soul from an evil goddess.   Zakina achieved her childhood dream of becoming an author after she rose to fame for the "Destiny's Dwelling" series. She later published a beastiary called "Undead of the Realms". While exploring the Masoud Desert with her companions, they uncovered a cult of liches and their leader, Milan. Kina tricked him into his own transmutation circle, and his soul was sealed in a stone. It was during that trip that she came into possession of a powerful artifact: the Mask of Lochoria.   Over time, she formed friendships with several deities, the most notable ones being Pandemonius and Iolond. She also earned the respect of the Great Vasuki, a cloud dragon that she encountered during the Trials of Xibalba. On the Isles of Basilla, Kina met another one of her ancestors. He was a rakshasa that was responsible for corrupting the islands for over a thousand years. After he was sealed in a book by Elathera, Zakina helped topple the local government. She was crowned queen, with Rikius as her king, and together, they established the Basillian Council.   Zakina was a part of a successful raid on the Library of Forbidden Knowledge, which allowed the party to reach the Plane of Time. She smuggled them into the Akashic Records not once, but twice. After crossing the Baba Yaga, she sacrificed a powerful relic to sever Yanca's connection to magic. Her own magic faded in the process but later returned as psionic power.   To access a forbidden plane, she helped kill Asmodeus to open a rift into the Far Realms. As a founding member of the Society of Free Thinkers, she helped reshape reality by abolishing its restrictive laws. Among the many changes SOFT made, Kina brought automatons into existence.

Zakina was addicted to drugs for several years. Her habits led to her being cut off from her family, as well as the unborn child that she thought her ex had lost. Her bloodline was cursed three times and one such curse made her a beacon for tragedy and misfortune. Zakina's had many near death experiences, a lot of them from her time in the military. The worst incident was the time she was attacked and almost flayed alive by a wendigo.   Zakina once trapped herself in a torture chamber in the Underdark. Elathera came to her rescue and nearly lost everything, including her life, in the process. Zakina interacted with a broken phylactery that was protected by a labyrinth of undead. She became a living phylactery for her ancestor. While toppling the Cult of Destruction was a good thing, she desperately wishes she could've saved Virhea. Several years after the cult's destruction, a remnant assassinated her. Her death left Lucky's life at risk and she was no longer a phylactery.   Another brush with death was during the Trials of Xibalba. She attempted to read a series of runes etched into a rock. When she successfully read them, the runes killed her with necrotic energy. On a visit to the afterlife with her friends, Zakina tried to cross the bridge between life and death. She fell to her death, but was saved when Elathera reversed time. With no memory of what had happened, she proceeded to attempt that four more times.   Zakina was the one to deliver the killing blow on a teenaged Yanca, who Baba Yaga created to hide the key to her immortality. During SOFT's mission in the Far Realms, she slayed Altamere. It was a hollow victory when she realized her grandmother would know of his death after losing her powers.

Kina suffers from complex post-traumatic stress disorder due to an abusive, isolated childhood and the loss of her cousin. Her cousin was killed in a freak accident and left Kina with a phobia of fire. Said phobia is so extreme that even a small campfire can trigger her anxiety. Her C-PTSD manifests in flashbacks, chronic nightmares, and a persistent sense of guilt. She struggles to regulate her emotions.   Zakina is affected by borderline personality disorder as well, and has a fear of abandonment. Her emotions are intense, sometimes volatile, and her moods shift very quickly. Impulsivity is a severe problem for her and she often finds herself in dangerous situations due to it. Kina's had ADHD since she was a child, but the sensory issues are much worse now due to her seemingly supernatural senses.

Kina is driven by her natural curiosity of the world around her and its' people. Cursed with wanderlust, she can't bring herself to settle down even if she really wants to. Besides, the world is full of amazing sights and interesting adventures to be had. She doesn't want to miss a second of it. Beyond that, she's driven by her need to make herself useful and help those in need. There will always be those less fortunate than her, but they won't have to suffer so long as she's around. Kina lives her life intending to leave the world a much better place than it was before she got there.

Kina is a jack-of-all trades. She's a talented writer with knowledge of all sorts, and she always finds a way to keep that knowledge relevant in her life. When it comes to crafting disguises, Kina's skill is nearly on par with an illusion spell. This lends itself well to costume designing, though she doesn't do seamstress work often. Despite her endearing awkwardness, she's quick-witted and able to manipulate people or situations to her advantage. Parkour isn't something she's formally trained in, but was self-taught as a habit to get around the city faster.   Kina's very observant, able to hear and see things that most people can't. Nothing goes unnoticed around her, which she finds to be a blessing and a curse. She finds it easy to read people to a point where it's downright unnatural. She's also impossibly stealthy, making it difficult for anyone to keep tabs on her. Kina has terrible impulse control and it gets her into trouble often. Magic, despite being surrounded by it, is a subject she struggles to comprehend. While she understands the basics, more complex ideas involving magic are beyond her. She also has a tendency to run her mouth and doesn't like being told what to do.

Likes grape juice, trains, knick-knacks, cats, gemstones, butterflies, sweets, deer, ear rubs, flowers, and hugs. Dislikes being the center of attention, leeches, cold weather, being doubted by others, noisy environments, and creepy crawlies. Favorite colors are teal, violet, and bubblegum pink. Her favorite scents are candied fruits, violets, jasmine, and cookies.

Zakina is an openly friendly and affectionate person, the latter being especially true for those she considers her friends. She's nurturing, always fretting over the well-being of her loved ones. While she may not be book smart, she's very wise and knowledgeable when it comes to day to day life and survival. She's incredibly loyal to those she cares about and is willing to throw her life on the line for them in any circumstance. To say that she's passionate would be an understatement as her determination and resilience are quite intense to some. Kina is generous with both her time and wealth, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. She's afflicted with boundless creativity and an adventurous soul that makes it hard for her to settle down.

Zakina is very emotional and at times, overwhelming to deal with. Even if her emotions are genuine, the display of them can come across as a show of dramatics to earn attention. She tends to be set in her ways, leading her to be quite stubborn when she feels justified in doing something or holding onto a certain belief. Patience is a virtue that eludes her and she's impulsive, hardly stopping to think about the consequences of her actions for the sake of instant gratification. She's oftentimes immature and naive. Kina's intensity leads her to be obsessive in nature once she sets her mind to something.

She tends the chew on her bottom lip when she's anxious and also giggles out of nervousness. She fiddles with the hem of her clothes a lot, usually as a self-soothing behavior. When she's truly relaxed around someone, she purrs.

Kina goes above and beyond when it comes to personal hygiene.  She bathes every other day,  moisturizes her skin in the morning and night,  and makes sure that her mane and tail are maintained at all times.  Perfume is a must for her and she tends to enjoy sweet scents with floral undertones.

While she considers herself spiritual, Kina doesn't adhere to any religion in particular. The time and effort it takes for it to have a substantial impact on her life is stressful and she'd rather do other things. Even meeting some of the gods themselves hasn't swayed her to practice any faith. She may give offerings to some, but she considers these entities allies and friends rather than someone to be worshiped.

She's a highly introverted individual, but thoroughly enjoys spending time with others. She's awkward and lacks certain social graces due to her upbringing. While it may be unnerving and annoying to some, it mostly works in her favor as it comes across as endearing; making her vulnerable and approachable. Kina has an infectious sort of optimism, even in stressful situations, and is openly friendly to most.

Her hobbies include writing, acrobatics, yoga, collecting knick-knacks, and dress-up. As for pets, she has two. Muffin, a fluffy cat found as a stray when he was a kitten. He knows a few tricks, is hyperactive, and incredibly protective when it comes to Kina's children. Sweet Pea is a squirrel familiar she gained while traveling through Limbo.

• Kina has a standard, American accent and her speaking style is as chaotic as she is. Her voice is on the higher side, though she'll play with the pitch dramatically when under stress or trying to emphasize her point. It sometimes comes across as squeaky. She curses like a sailor, her favorite being "fuck", and she has no qualms about swearing in public or dignified places. Anyone who tries to tell her it's trashy or inappropriate will earn an f-bomb exclusively for themselves.
