Samanthera Falls
Named for Oscar Samanthera, the Samanthera Falls is a series of waterfalls along the mountain river leading down to the settlement point of Osolette.
Geography
High in the Human Cradle Mountains, the falls themselves consist of seven smaller steppe waterfalls that cascade down an estimated 860 meter cliff. The top marks the widest point of the Osole River and runs north to south before turning abruptly left toward the western cliff edge, here the river banks are sheer rock to the east and south, and lightly forest grasslands opposite. At the bottom, the widest section of the river, the mountains fade back, and the banks are more densely forested as far as the eye can see.
History
The top of the falls is the original site for the humans who followed Oscar Samanthera after humanity's Great Split which saw the two growing factions of humanity leave the Human Cradle Mountains in opposite directions. Samanthera and his people traveled south and west down the mountains. They founded a camp in 76 and for three years tried to make thier home at the top of the falls, but could never cultivte enough food to last the more than harsh winters. Come spring of the fourth year Oscar sent Eridine Osole and an expedition of survivalists to find a safe place to settle at the bottom of the mountains. By the following spring the camp was abandoned, all inhabitants living in the newly founded city of Osolette.
