Tactics
Street Watch
The primary goal of the Street watch is to police and enforce the laws of the city of Arlint itself, they do this by patrolling the streets and scaffolding walkways of the city and chasing down criminal elements of the population.
Wall Watch
The Wall Watch's main goal is to protect the city and its population from the Mist Wraiths in mists outside the city. It is known that fire is the best weapon against the creatures, so instead of swords, ground troops use specialized torches to attack, they also wear leather torso wraps coated in whale oil that can be set on fire by a friendly archer on the wall if the soldier finds himself under attack and in the hands of the wraiths.
History
In the city's early history, before the navy and pride of Arlint ship building, the City Watch operated for decades as the only armed force in Arlint. Founded in 380 after the first occurance of murder in Arlint the city watch started as a single commander in charge of ten men. Thier duties mainly consisted of keeping the peace within town. The number of watchmen quickly grew with the size of the city and soon needed more structure. In the yea 138 the title of Lord Commander of the City Watch was created by Gwenith Tvelty and the City Council with the first office appointment being given to Colthon Eriken. It was Lord Commander Eriken who, in response to the menace within the Coldmist Forest, formed the two branch system of the current City Watch. the Street Watch to guard the town and the people within against threats both foreign and domestic, and the Wall Watch who's sole purpose was to man the wall and keep the creatures of the mist away. During the time of Hrodgier's Empire the watch was informally disbanded and absorbed into the Imperial army which undertook the duties of the former city watch. After the shortlived empire disolved and the city watch was reformed, they were headquartered in the newly named Eriken's Keep within the former imperial palace complex.
