Imperial? Paladin of the Intergalactic Committee | Fighter of the Vanguard | Balthazar of ship x | Chief Engineer of the Intergalactic Committee's ship x Balthazar (a.k.a. Bal, Zar, Thazar)

Currently, a paladin and captain enlisted in the IGC's fleet. Hell-bent on fighting evil and ridding the universe of it, as well as to investigate the IGC, its motives and the disaster of seven years ago.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

He is tall and has quite a bit of muscle mass, this doesn't make him less agile though. He's scarred, due to his past battles. His body now fully recovers from injuries, due to his vampirism.

Body Features

His skin tone is a dark grey, or a desaturated black, due to him being turned into a vampire. His body is marked by many a scar. His body is pretty much hairless, due to the high temperatures in his living environment.

Facial Features

He has an oval-shaped face with high cheekbones, a large straight nose with a wide bridge, and plump lips. His eyebrows are thick and long, they extend past his face. His ears are long as well and extend past his head.

Identifying Characteristics

Balthazar has quite a lot of identifying features. He has a lot of moles on his body, but the most notable ones are the ones on his face. There is a mole just above his lip on the left side of his face and there is a mole under his right eye. He also has a tattoo. It is a full sleeve on his left arm that extends onto his left breast. He also sports many piercings, depending on the occasion. Usually, he only wears some earrings. The most notable of all these features are the five dots placed around his injured eyes. These dots were placed there to ward off evil, but they are also a plea to the gods for the person to be restored to good health.

Has magical abilities, though limited. Advanced other senses even more than normal. Uses guiding magic, as in magic that kinda helps him see in his own way.

Plays many instruments, piano/lute/flute are his favourite.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Balthazar was born to an old and rich family, who were also nobles. So he'd led a good life for the first hundred years. His relationship with his family was good and his family supported his decisions with regards to his personal life (transitioning, his love for men exclusively, his interest in helping people and his pursuit of knowledge). He was a curious man and when he had finished his apprenticeship at a local hospital, he began traveling to help the people in the outlands. First only on his planet, then intergalactically.   This is how he ended up in the middle of a civil war on an alien planet. He was aiding both sides, whilst simultaneously trying to stop the bloodshed. Some people took issue to his presence and abducted him from his tent one night. They tortured him, trying to force him to leave, but he wouldn't abandon the people. So they took his eyes, so he simply couldn't aid these people anymore. They then left him behind in that cave, weakened, blinded, hundreds of kilometres away from civilization. He was found by some of his planetside friends, who tried to patch him up but the damage was already done. So they arranged to transport him back home, despite his objections. Back home he attended doctors and many a therapist, yet no one could fix his eyes. They had been cursed and no one could lift the antique curse. And the bandits were already long gone. This period was one of the darkest of his life, where he wallowed in self-hatred and disgust (despite it not being his fault at all). Eventually he managed to work through it and he started learning again and then exploring once more, his curiousity for the world still not sated.   On one such travels he managed to walk into a vampire den. He had been lost in an unfamiliar elven city and decided to go ask around in a sleezy bar, which turned out to be a vampire den. He almost dies, so he begs. He begs for his life, because he's never been more scared than now, please dear god take mercy on his soul. And one miraculously does. Just as a vampire is about to sink their fangs into him for the last time, the door bursts open and a team of "vampire hunters" swarms in, taking the vampires into custody ad Balthazar is rushed to the nearest hospital. There, they keep him in a stable state for a while, while they call his relatives, none of whom want anything to do with it. His childhood best friend though tells them to save him. They do and Balthazar wakes up a vampire.

Education

Since he was born a noble, it's pretty good. However, since he was a younger brother, he only got taught the basics of noble duties. He also got schooled in magics, since he had a talent for that. His parents wanted for him to stay at home so he could be a back-up heir should anything happen to the current heir. He rejected that life and went on to teach himself, first medicine, then all kinds of engineering.

Employment

He's currently employed as a captain in the fleet of the Intergalactic Committee, the head engineer of his ship "idk yet". Due to his (magical) prowess, he's also employed as a Paladin of the Intergalactic Commitee, which just means he's sometimes employed on a military spaceship to protect the Committee and its associated member states/worlds. He entered the committee about seven years ago, when finally his world joined the Committee as one of its member states, after it got attacked by intergalactic raiders. Since then he worked his way up through the ranks, showing his intelligence and his education. It also helped that he was well versed in magic. Due to those qualities he developed many upgrades for the ships and became one of the most esteemed members of the IGC, which landed him a job at the Vanguard, a small fleet of incredibly advanced ships that are sent out on covert operations, which range from saving world by distributing food to assassinating influential political enemies of the IGC.

Mental Trauma

The events that left him permanently scarred gave him PTSD. Being turned into a vampire brought all the trauma back. He also developed general anxiety disorder then, which only worsened when he was ostracised by his family. Has pretty bad gender dysphoria, which has often lead him to suicidal thoughts/inclinations.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

It used to be his curiosity. Despite having lived for over 300 years, he still feels like he's seen so little. Lately though, after he's met his companions, he got driven by them instead. Of course, he still does things out of curiosity, but his friends' safety comes first. He's never really connected well with others and this is really one of the few times it has actually clicked, so they mean the world to him and he'd do everything for them.

Talents: he has magical capabilities as well as musical ones. He plays most instruments very well, but his personal favourites are the piano and the lute. He's also a very capable fighter. When nervous/anxious he tends to tug on his clothes, as well as shake his hands or his legs when seated. He snorts when he laughs.

He's absolutely immaculate and cannot abide filth. When possible he showers everyday and cleans his place every week, with a more thorough cleaning every month.

Family Ties

Large family, three older brothers and two older sisters, one younger sister. Parents both alive, but they're distant. He's adopted, as are his younger brothers and sister, one older sister and two older brothers.

Religious Views

I think he's an atheist, he's pretty much lost faith in god(s) during his long life. However, he does belief in hope/faith. He had some dark moments in his life, where he almost ended it, but hope/faith/belief stopped him. He didn't get a sign from the gods or anything, it's just that his own faith in something helped him survive.

Social Aptitude

He's an introvert and is really only at ease talking to people he's friends with or whom he explicitely trust. Otherwise he tends to stutter a lot.

He likes to wave around his hands a lot.

Making music, reading, exploring/adventuring/travelling.

Wealth & Financial state

Ever since leaving his homeworld behind, he's been a bit short on money, even though he took jobs wherever he could find them. However, since he's joined up with the IGC, he earns a lot of money, most of which he doesn't keep.
