Vernon

Vernon is a small town on Highway 44, about halfway between Springfield and Joplin. Most of the outlying houses are abandoned, though the area around the center of town is generally more bustling. The vast majority of businesses and people operate under the Route 66 Caravan, effectively making it one of their company towns.   As of right now, Vernon is considering not continuing to pay the town security guards, despite their proximity to Joplin and the Pit Crew. The main argument for this is that they don't want their hard-earned caps going towards it anymore, and they will just protect themselves and deal with the consequences of not having one. The security guards (as Clara knows) have no actual authority over the townsfolk, the only difference between a guard and the townsfolk is that they must be hired as third parties by entities that the 66 Caravan owns.
