Ozark Enclave

History

In the opening months of 2077, it became clear to Mason MacBride, Governer of the Plains Commonwealth and mid-ranking member of the Enclave, that bombs would fall sooner rather than later.   The Ozark wasteland had consisted of many tribes, ghouls, and the fledging settlements of vault dwellers. The group, led by Bradley MacBride (a descendant of Mason MacBride) began to ............ Tribes that were situated around the northern part of Missouri were annexed as well, though they found it difficult to maintain their culture with such overbearing measures from the new arrivals.   After Springfield, the group and its newly amassed army began to take over Branson, where they subsequently found Silver Dollar City. Its occupants, the Silver Dollars tribe, resisted annexation. The Enclave attempted to forcefully take over the amusement park, and eventually did after 2/3 of the Silver Dollars were slaughtered. The Enclave, like it did to all the other tribes in Missouri, attempted to forcefully erase their identity. Had it not been for the extensive sewer system underneath the park, they may have succeeded. However, the culture of the Silver Dollars were able to thrive, though now they were scarred by what had happened to them.   The Southern part of Missouri was fully assimilated by 2130.

Disbandment

However, cracks began to show in their governance. The Enclave called for excessive policing of cities and towns, which many were not happy with. To fund new campaigns, heavy taxes were put on the civilians, whose work options were already limited and wages stunted. This was exacerbated by the fact that movement within, in, or out of the area was heavily limited as well, which created supply line issues and general unrest among the population. Many civilians, which had enjoyed relative freedom before the Enclave came along, became disillusioned with what the new government could provide.   Another nail in the coffin came in the form of Bradley MacBride's death in 2135. MacBride was a fairly healthy, yet very paranoid man, though it is suspected that he was assassinated. The blame was shifted onto the civilians they had annexed or displaced. Despite the real killer never being known, or if there was one, many citizens got tired of their government's heavy-handed and cruel tactics.   The first of the revolts started in Springfield, though more found their way to St. Louis. With the increased military presence at these cities, wastelanders in other areas had their chance to push back against the Enclave. By the mid 2140's, the Ozark Enclave was fractured, and any semblance of pro-Enclave propaganda or sentiments were put to sleep. There are a few Enclave supporters still in Ft. Leonard Wood and a few of the other Ozark cities, though these opinions are not popular.   The Ozark Enclave had caused the vast majority of the Ozarks to despise any kind of unifying government to this day. Without this governence and oversight, company executives such as Rhett Marston and Teddy Tamblin were able to successfully monopolize and control just about every part of Ozark commerce and logistics
