Alphanis deceased?

ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

  • Assassinated in courtyard of his home in Obrer (which is supposedly VERY secure)
  • Assassins (few know there were MULTIPLE) apparently had poisoned crossbows and shot him (numerous times) from afar in the courtyard, and then managed to disappear
  • He was dead before Glubglar even reached him

REVIVAL

  • Being a necromancer and a master of death, Alphanis always had a plan for such an occasion
  • He begged Saphielle to learn the CLONE spell, and had her make him a CLONE and keep it safe in the SPEER HQ in the Great Nilos Wood
  • She used a sealed Coffin paid for and designed by Alphanis (like an egyptian sarcophogus, with the death's head over his face, and an hourglass on one hand, and his mace in the other)

  • Following his death, Glubglar contacted Saphielle and the Death Joints plus her met in the SPEER HQ to make sure the spell worked and Alphanis was recovering
  • However, his new body lacked his original connection to the Wild Magic of the Anachime Sudex, and was immensely depowered, leaving him weak. However, he did make the Clone SLIGHTLY younger, being mid-50s, restoring some youth to Alphanis
  • He wanted to keep his resurrection a secret to protect himself and draw out whoever was powerful enough to attack and kill him, as the Death Joints worried a new threat was coming to Terus

CAMPAIGN 3

  • In the 100 Years since Campaign 2, much has changed, and the long life (and apparent recent resurrection) of King Alphanis is one of the many mysteries surrounding the man. Over the past century he had to deal with the loss of his magiks after the Anachime Sudex left Domunz, but he found a way to touch the Weave once more by making a deal with a Demi-God of Undeath with no name (one whom apparently Bushanny allows to operate in Domunz). Alphanis frankly finds the guy kind of weird and creepy, but he figures if Bushanny allows him to stick around, what the hell.
  • Even with the raw potential of his new Warlock powers, they were but blunt instruments compared to the fine-tuned spells he once cast, and therefore had a team of mages assist with his more.... delicate rituals, including the one that has helped ensure his survival over the past century. For Alphanis has set up a series of clones in hidden facilities throughout the Tufenes Region, empty vessels waiting to be filled with his spirit when the time was needed. Normally he quietly offed one of his husks when it grew ill or out of shape, but with the recent assassination the Duplication Rite proved most advantageous, though he had to remain in hiding for some time while he worked out how he would reveal his return to the people of Domunz.
  • However, now with Cthuhlu on the rise, Mind Flayers having invaded Obreriault, and all of Terus under attack by the various cults, there is no longer time for subtlely. So he gathered the remnants of his team from a century ago and headed out to do what they could do to stop the madness, and find the Black Tear, praying that perhaps the combined might of the Black Tear and DEATH JOINTS might be enough to save Terus.

- King of Obreriault prior to campaign - Survived assassination attempt, but badly wounded and in hiding - Knows something immensely dark is out there - Has gathered the DEATH JOINTS to hunt it down
