Summer Camp 2025 experience
Now that Word Anvil Summer Camp 2025 is over I think it's a good time to look back at what I accomplished and to get inspired by what all the other amazing Anvilites here on World anvil made during July.
Pledge and Accomplishments
Wow the month of July went by so fast. It really felt like a blink and you miss it month and with a nice 10 day holiday with my family at the end of the month there wasn't much time for me to write. Nevertheless I did manage to get a solid 8 articles out this month. Some might still be a work in progress because I of course had way too much to say, but we can flush those out later right.
My pledge
During the summer camp prep I pleaded to write 8 articles. This is my first year doing Summer Camp and I didn't want to overwhelm myself by directly going for diamond. I know I'm a slower writing and love to deep dive in to recharge rabbit holes while writing. This combined with the fact that I basically could not do any writing while on holiday I decided to go for Copper and then see how many we did and if we did more it be an amazing plus.
My accomplishment
I got Copper.
I made 8 articles this month just like I pledged to do during my prep.
I spend a lot of time researching for my articles, who know orchids are actually edible. The staple food I made for the week one prompt is actually possible, but please don't just start making it with the orchids in your window. Get some food grade orchids if you want to try it. Not because of the specific orchid, but because of the pesticides used during farming. Because of this extensive recharge I made some very long articles with 1500+ words where the minimum required is only 300. If I had kept all my articles shorter, like around the 700 worlds, I'm sure I would have been able to get to a lot more of the prompts that sounded supper interesting to me during summer camp. This does not mean I won't write them because I probably still will as I got some cool ideas for them. They just won't count for summer camp.
I also have two articles that I wrote for summer camp that are not finished. They are still a mess and need a lot of work in my opinion. I was not able to get everything I wanted out of them leaving them unfinished with me out of inspiration of what to add to complete them. So they are still very much WIP's but this game me a good base to work off of to finish them after inspiration hits me again.
What I did find suprising is that a lot of my articles did end up working really well together or building off of each other. I did not plan this but it just end up happening and I think that's very cool.
That all said I'm still really proud of myself for doing all this work and using it to expand my world in ways I had not thought of before. Who thinks about this one food that they eat when you are just starting out in a new world, but it gives so much life to the world and the people in it.
And I'm proud of myself for partaking in this year's Summer Camp. This was my first every time participating in anything like this and it was amazing. Having something to work to is amazing for me and keeps me motivated so I'm very happy I went for it this summer. Here is to more amazing World Anvil events to come.

My goals
The year is not over. There are still 5 more months to go before we can say hello to 2026. How the f* is it 2026 already in 5 months? I have no clue, but apparently it is. So let's set some goals for myself about what I want to so with my world building for the next 5 months.
What I've found during this summer camp is that my world is missing a lot of the foundational stuff to stand up on its own. It's not really surprising seen as this is practically a new world I had started just before summer camp but still. So this is something I want to work of for the next 5 months.
The two main subjects I want to work on a the Hirvi community and the politicl landscape of Sumentaa.
The Hirvi community
Flush them out and make them feel like a real community that lives and breaths. I find this important as the main character in the story is of 50% Hirvi blood and has grown up in the community so it's very much a part of their identity. Flushing out this ethnicity will help in making them feel more rounded and makes it easier for me to see why they will so sultan thing sultan ways when they might not seem logical to there people that are not Hirvi.
The political landscape
I have found during summer camp that I still don't know a lot about what is goign on politicly in Sumentaa and that this is making it hard for figger out how people might think of surtan thing because of this. So in the next 5 months I want to look at this and flush it out more. Does it have to be perfect? No. Does it have to be finished? No. I just want tog et a better understanding of what's going on politically in this world. Politics have so much influence on how people think and how we perceive the world. I find it important the I work on it so I get a better understanding of how the world works.
Worldamber
Next to these goals of flushing out suntan topics I also want to participate in Worldamber coming December and write 10.000 new world of world building. This is a step up from this Summer camp where I did just over 8.000 new world. Yes it's more world but I think that I can do it especially that now after Summer Camp I have a lot more information about this world and more of an idea of where it's going.
Congratulations on reaching your goal! You have some awesome things planned out as I see it :)
