Exemplar

In order to officially qualify for the title of Exemplar, an individual or their household must have earned a reputation as an exemplary member of the community they wish to govern.

Unlike many comparable systems of hierarchy, there is no bloodline requirement for an individual or household to be considered eligible for the Exemplar title. However, due to the necessity of popularity to properly petition for the position, it is uncommon that a family with no considerable wealth earns the position.

When an Elevant wishes to assign an Exemplar to a portion of territory under their control, they must first petition the High Court of Eliond or a relevant Lumin to do so. This petition is more of a formality, as there are few recorded instances of outright denial; rather, the Lumin or High Court will typically impose a requirement that must be met before the title of Exemplar may be earned, such as a sufficient donation to the Aquilan Church.

Once approved, an Exemplar is tasked with establishing a proper seat of power in their assigned territory, if one does not already exist.

An Exemplar is tasked with administering law and order in their assigned lands. They act as an extension of their Elevant's will.
