Dwarf
The Dwarven species is a group of short, stout humanoid creatures that inhabit a wide variety of regions in the world of Omne. They are often skilled in metalworking, leading most of their civilization to center around mountains and other areas where ore can be sourced.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Sharing many characteristics with humans, dwarves are bipedal creatures possessing two arms, two legs, and one head attached to a torso. They are considerably shorter and heftier than humans, averaging anywhere from four to five feet tall. The body of a dwarf is denser than that of a human, with an average dwarf weighing in at 250 lbs (despite their smaller stature). This characteristic is attributed to their creation from the rock of the earth.
Dwarven hair grows far thicker and more consistently than a human's; very few male dwarves lack facial hair, and even fewer are unable to grow it.

Social Structure
All recorded dwarven cultures organize themselves in a clan hierarchy. Dwarven clans are genetic, typically following the bloodline of a patriarch. Those that are either twice or thrice removed from the patriarch (depending on the culture) are considered to be a new clan entirely.
If a clan is unable to support themselves, either through inability to create a homestead or lack of proper funds, they will often petition to become serfs to a more powerful clan. This clan, referred to as the foreclan, may lay claim to any new mines or territory as stipulated in the Tome of Oaths, which is written and agreed upon in the final petitionary process.
The most prominent observed distinction between dwarven cultures and other sapient species' is that power is not typically displayed by height. Humans, for example, often build their keeps on hills. Dwarves, however, structure their cities in accordance with proximity to the earth; if a dwarven city is located underground, the most wealthy clans prefer their abodes to be furthest from the overworld entrance. Some dwarven cultures, such as the Bundirukt, practice in direct opposition to human tendencies; the lowest buildings in their cities are often the most extravagent.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Dwarves are among the most common sapient species' in the world of Omne, and can be found in the mountains of most regions.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Dwarves possess an intrinsic ability to sense the composition of earth and rock. This ability has been coined as tremorsense in the common tongue. Additionally, a dwarf's ability to see in dim light exceeds that of both a human and elf.
