Ürïstúd Family

The Ürïstúd, or Urristuid Family was the third family to leave the Elironid tribe, which they did in 24987 AYM. They traveled east, into the Shattered Earth, where they founded the tribe of Ëžŋýha, later spreading east across the Iagos River to found the tribes of Delphios and Conora in 24755 and 24734 AYM, respectively. Over time, Aeginias would be conquered by Ökghaaŋðarr in 22679 AYM, which became Vindiguz in 22658 AYM. Delphios and Conora merged into Usoltera in 22680 AYM in response to the Aeginian conquest, and a number of fierce battles (called the Usolterian Wars) occurred between Vindiguz and Usoltera from 22675 to 22661 AYM.

History

The Ürïstúd Family was one of the twelve families resident in the Ïlýrhonid Tribe. It possessed a section of the tribal land northeast of the center that was bordered by the Ïntiyóða Family to the north/west and the Ïlamatril Family to the south.

Unlike most other families, the Ürïstúd Family seems to have had no such ancestral ties or any recollection of the faraway, legendary past, or at least abandoned or placed little importance on it. Instead, they are noted as being heavily centered on the idea of the immediate past and its effects on the present. This is most poignantly seen through their naming conventions; an incredibly terse, single-phoneme name would be assigned to a newborn, and as he lived and accomplished deeds, more phonemes would be concatenated onto the ends. As such, longer and longer names would be associated with a much-increased wisdom and experience. Particular emphasis was placed on the simple act of 'being' or 'doing'; it was always the action of adding phonemes to the names, never the removal thereof. As such, both a person's failures and successes would be equally treated in the name.

As for the single-phoneme base segment, it isn't entirely clear where one would base these off of. Records on the Žötó-Ïdhatón imply that it was at least partially lineage-based, with several distinct lines existing within the family and each being assigned a special base phoneme in the naming conventions. Much less being purely lineage-based, these special lines were like distinct organizations within the family, and those who chose not to associate with a line were as though they were not a part of it, even if they were part of their lineage. Similarly, one could enter these organizations even if they were not born into it.

For those not in or who chose not to be in any of these lines, they had free reign over the base phoneme save those already taken by the special lines, but the members of this new line would need to take on that special phoneme.

The naming system curiously treats the ancestral remnants, symbolized with these base phonemes, as being permanent and unchangeable. The only thing that could be changed would be whether an individual wanted that phoneme.
