Nath Tarminas

Nath Tarminas is a city that acts as a Fae Crossing between the Fae Lands and the Material Plane. It was created by Magistrate Dannuntin of the Seasons as a home for the eladrin people, but it was peverted and cursed by the Highest Mother of the Seelie Court, Queen Leandra of the Evermoors.

Description

Nath Tarminas is a large city scape that is comprised of a web of towers stretched upward, diminishing in height radially out from the spire in the centre. Each of these spires are comprised of a strange yellow and green rock that shines fragments of light. Throughout the city is a mass of greenery and trees that help disguise the spires as they enter the Material Plane. At the top of the city, a large rotating dial made of a dark green metal remains, it constantly ticks around, until its hand, the Sun in the Fae Lands, and the Silver Moon of the Material plain are in line. When that happens the city fades from its current plane and is transported from the Fae Lands to the Material Plane and vice versa.

Points of Interest

Season's Palace

The most central district, the Season's Palace is the area directly surrounding the central spire of the city. It's design is to flow into the central spire and act as a resource provider to it.

Tirin

The centre most spire in the entirity of Nath Tarminas, Tirin is the home of Dannuntin and their most trusted advisors. It is common to find people who are wishing to hold court with the Master of the Seasons, particularly when they are so closely linked to harvests and new beginnings.   The tower itself has around one hundred floors and rises around 1300 feet from the base of city below. Its immense height and the consruction of the other towers keep it in the eyesight of all residents at all time.

Bengallad Keep

Placed deep below the Tirin, the Bengallad Keep is designed to be a home for trinkets and momentos given to Dannuntin by those who come to curry favour, regardless of court or position. Artifacts that have been collected include everything from enchanted magical swords claimed to be able to wound even the toughest of foes to a small book, untouched by mortal hands that was given by the Lord of Dreams.   The entrance to the Keep is buried, hidden by illusions and misdirections from all sides. Dannuntin uses these procautions aware that there are many who would wish to raid the keep for the many treasures it holds.

The Clock of Fate

Attatched to the top of Tirin is the Clock of Fate. A large mechanical looking clock that seems to be chained to the core of the city through Tirin. It can be seen from all parts of the city and is always clear on the time that it is showing, though it does not always line up with the time that someone would think that it would be. When the clock chimes, which happens randomly, the entire city shifts between planes. Dannuntin has never spoken about the circumstance that led to the clock being placed on the top of the city, but has always shared their distain for the machine.

Tythoch Ward

The second ring of the city, the Tythoch Ward is primarily for those who arrived in the city during the beginning of its foundation. These peoples came to the city as a home and as such have a strong dedication towards the Lord of the City.

Vertiloch

A small tavern in one of the larger towers, Vertiloch is designed to be a lavish region for celebration away from prying eyes. The entire tavern is enchanted by a spell of anti-magic that prevents errant magics. It is common that children of Nath Tarminas' nobility end up in Veritloch as a way to escape from prying eyes and take part in parties and revelry that can remain secretive.

The Unbreakable Anvil

Founded in the base of a much smaller tower, the namesake of this blacksmith was an anvil blessed by Dannuntin to remain strong as long as they remain keeper of the city. As such the original anvil has remained the centrepiece of the store and is used to forge masterpieces of design that are dedicated to the lord who blessed the anvil. The master of the blacksmith is Daedric, a sprite who to this day crafts most of the pieces that are made within the smithy.

Glendorric Heights

The outer ring of the city, Glendorric Heights acts as the biggest residential area and is much more flat in comparison to the rest of the districts, with homes containing more gardens than the towers of the other districts. The majority of the residents are people who are travelling between the city and its many different connections from its passing between planes. Often people can walk into the forest lined border of the city without even realising it, turn back, and the city is completely gone.

Morrae Light

The Morrae Light is a beautiful fountain in Glendorric Heights that was created by a gnomish inventor that wandered into the city and was inspired by many of the eladrin who remained there. The fountain flows with water that shifts colour between those of the different seasons using small enchantments. It gets its name from the lights that glow around it as the city approaches night time, especially on the mortal realm.
Draighthorn Hame One of the larger buildings within the Heights, Draighthorn Hame was once the home of a family of eladrin nobility, chosen by the Magistrate. However, over time, the family perished. As a result, the building stands monument to them, and has become a tavern for those who travel into the city, whether by accident or purpose. The house is based within the forested borders and often is the only thing a person sees before they realise they have been shifted between the planes of the realms.

History

Time in the Fae Lands works very differently than the material realm. One day in the Fae Lands could translate to anywhere between one second and one hundred years in the mortal realm. As a result, this section won't contain any years from the perspectice of the residents of Nath Tarminas, but will instead focus on time from the perspective of the mortal realm.
Around 329 AR, Nath Tarminas first shifted into the material realm. It's location seems to be near the town of Tulan, yet it seems to be forced to shift around in terms of location. All of this is due to the Clock of Fate, which was placed after Dannuntin scorned Queen Leandra of the Seelie Court. She had once again invited Dannuntin to join the court and pledge fielty to it's causes. Dannuntin, refusing to align the city with any people, declined the offer. After so many attempts, Leandra placed the clock at the top of the city to ensure that the massive population center and powerful Archfae would have only so much control. When the city is in the mortal planes, Dannuntin confines themselves to the top of their home, looking for ways to tamper with and break the unbreakable machine that transports the city.   Nath Tarminas has been spotted several times through the centuties, and some people in the nearby villages and towns have claimed to see the city. Though many people believed that these were people making up stories. The first written account of the city was only documented in 749 AR, the last time the city was on the mortal realm. During this time a member of the Archani Conclave entered the city. A month later, it shifted back to the Fae Lands, trapping this member across the planes. Thankfully, after careful dealings, they were able to return, those their memory of the exact events that happened are quite hazy, leading to them only write so much about the city. Some have scorned the account as only a dream, rather than that of a real life place.

I love that there is a whole keep for just the treasures.   I always enjoy reading about all the different places of interest around the city. The clock is my favourite.
