House Vilanche
Lord Of The House.
House Vilanche sits the seat in the halls of Castle Nightingale and has done so for almost three generation. Even while being the youngest, poorest and smallest of all the Major houses the family has already made sure the name Vilanche will not be forgotten for ages. For the current Lord "Darius" is a force to be reckoned with, effortlessly winning almost every tournament he has participated in, since his 15th name day. Riding a stallion so white one might think a king is walking by, and with his fully engraved silver armor, long golden brown hair and the family's longsword, forged by his grandfather, ones first impression does not change much. His calm manners and confidents to smile and whistle like the nightingale of his sigil throughout fights, Has earned him the nickname "The Chirping Knight".
The Birth Of House Vilanche.
Darius grandfather "Dyrén The Forge dweller" was birthed and raised in the slums of Mel'Urey as the son of a simple blacksmith. At a very young age, Dyrén too found an interest in the shaping of metals. As the name suggests, he spend far most of his life bend over an anvil with a hammer in his hand. Having a keen eye for elegancy, he slowly but surely made a name for himself among the nobles of the great city. One day, the words of a smith crafting armor so beautiful, it could only be described as art, arrived at Metrif. The lord of House Aurelia, a family well known for their extravagant and expensive lifestyle, knew he needed a piece of this glorious craftsmanship. He couldn't though, for the Order Of Nine had prohibited all trade with the free citys of Mel'Uray and Karag'Ha, as sanctions against slavery in the regions. So the lord "Kellen Aurelia" offered the young Dyrén to move into his castle and be his personal blacksmith, yet the generous offer were declined. Kellen knew everyone had a price, so instead proposed that Dyrén would get his most beloved castle, second only to Highrock and a lordship of his own, to make a name for his descendants. This new offer was happily accepted.
The Road To Power.
During the time of Dyrén's lordship in Castle Nightingale, not much growth came upon the family, back then they sat only as one of the many lesser houses of Metrif, owning only the land at which their castle stood. Dyrén as he's known for, spend all his waking hours in the dungeon, Kellen Aurelia had made into a great forge for him to smith his art, while his only son, Darius's farther "Marcell Vilanche" road his horses in the surrounding fields and spend the rest of his time, reading old history books. Marcell had no love for the craft, as all he saw was the anvil slowly chipping his father away and the blaze eating the time he should have used, strengthening his son. Tired and bored of the life in solitude on the whistling hills. Marcell would as soon as he was a man grown on his 13th name day, travel beyond the eastern mountains and see the jungles of Kel'Ehrev. In Vrelu'Tsayo he would meet a high standing arms merchant, who knew all about his fathers fine work and gladly took the boy under his wings. Here Marcell lived for many years, taking notes of everything the merchant could teach him in diplomacy and trade, even marrying his youngest daughter "Arien". He only returned to Castle Nightingale once his father had struck his last blow on the anvil, when he owned the lord title. At their castle, Marcell and Arien lived a good life, they had three children, the oldest being Darius. With Family ties and great diplomatic skills, Marcell made trade routes between The Aurelia Highlands and Vrelu'Tsayo, still used to this day, earning the house lordship over more and more land, until they now hold the entire "Whistling Hills". This new land and his great ties would greatly benefit them when his son Darius, at only 17 years old, would accidentally kill lord "Blywind", who had a seat at the ruling Order Of Nine, when his horse got impaled by Darius's lance in a tournament, crushing the lords neck when the animal fell on him. As Blywind was around same age as Darius, he had no predecessor and per tradition the eight other lords should anoint a ruler in his stead. A close vote was cast on Lord Marcell even though many other houses had more land, money and greater armies. This "coincident" of killing the lord and taking his place, led some of the lords to stamp Darius as honorless and a thief who stole the seat. But in truth the Vilanche's had something no others did, a close relationship with the nobles of Vrelu'Tsayo. Giving the house its only six-teen years old seat at the "Order Of Nine" of which "Darius" has sat seven.
