The world of Nifaalar persists beyond each session. If one party have made a change in one session, other parties may see that change in a later session.
The island you live on is known as the Isle of Corin, in the realm of Nifaalar. It is believed that the land is fairly explored, though new discoveries are uncovered almost every day. The Eastern Region of Corin is inhabited mainly by the Human Kingdom of Sordun. The Western Region is inhabited mainly by the Wood-Elf Kingdom of Llwyrnau in the Merynau Forest, along with the High-Elf Kingdom of Tiirynur in the Western Mountains. The North and South are unclaimed territory, for the most part, though there are a few minor civilizations that live in the mountainous terrain, such as the Aarakocra.
243 AR
The year
242 AR had seen much drama and mayhem. The world experienced great loss as the great wizard known as
Dormund Pelrion was slain by a rather lethal magic wielding green dragon, the
Human Kingdom of Sordun had lost its royal family during an attack on the city of
Thraldur by a group of vampires masquerading as a travelling circus, an order known as
The Court of Themis took control over the city of
Gabel after the previous noble had been exposed for trying to frame an innocent although the previous Lord Magistrate of that very same order had been slain for conspiring with vampires and the undead.
But, where there is bad there can be found good. The green dragon was slain, the vampires are believed to have been thwarted, a new democratic form of government was formed in
Thraldur, and it is said that a dragonborn known as
Olluka'ar Ptarius has been bestowed the gifts of the
Book of Exalted Deeds.
242 AR
It's been
100 years since the world-shaking events of the year
141 SI. The Arcane Rebellion,
the Oak's last vanguard, and The Retaking of the Mages Sanctum, to name a few. The
Human Kingdom of Sordun seems to have returned to a more prosperous age, magic and worship spreading throughout the kingdom once again. New noble houses have risen, and now a council oversees
Sordun. The Halfling province of
Tolfen has been mostly restored to its previous state, halfling refugees leaving
Thraldur to return home once again and fill their hills with merriment.
Gwelendwyr has been rebuilt, although some of the
Merynau Forest still shows minor signs of corruption now and again, but for now...all seems safe. Due to the frequent interference of dark forces, and the reintroduction of dragons making travel on the
Isle of Corin more treacherous than it has ever been, the number of mercenaries and adventurers wandering the land has risen, new orders forming almost every day. The winged elves known as
Avariel have rejoined the elven kingdoms, taking refuge in
Valar. The dwarven populace that has grown since being reintroduced in
Rocknest look to their mountain stronghold, wondering if the glory of their race shall ever be restored.
Some of the
Fey have also decided to take residence upon the island, and although most of them are found within
the Dark Forest, there are a large number found spread throughout the island, especially within the
Human Kingdom of Sordun.
141 SI
In recent years, the land has been ravaged by arcane warfare from many different sources. The
Merynau Forest has been almost entirely destroyed due to a vampiric siege. And recently, rumours of strange creatures moving through the forest in the darkness creeping ever closer to
Gwelendwyr has the wood elves on edge. While in
Valar,
Aspen Solarin has returned, stepping into her fathers shoes to rule the
High-Elf Kingdom of Tiirynur after his untimely demise in an attempt to save the wood elves from utter destruction.
In the centre of the island, the halfling province has been utterly ravaged in
The Arcane Rebellion, refugees flood toward
Thraldur in seek of aid. While the humans have problems of their own...
It was merely a year ago that a tyrannical king had overseen the
Human Kingdom of Sordun with a blazing fist, ensuring that the
'corruption' that is magic and divine worship had no part in the day-to-day affairs of his
'fair' kingdom. Human casters and worshippers lived in fear every day, not knowing when the next arcane purge may be, when would the king send his next crusaders to rid the kingdom of magic once again?
But now, that king is gone, the previous tyrannical royal family overthrown after great effort by elves and humans alike. They were overthrown in a great rebellion...but at a great cost. The island is scarred by arcane energy left from the war. Along with the fact that now means there is a kingdom up for grabs, and everyone wants a slice! Although, good did come from the revolution. An equable paladin known as
Jantle Beaugarde now oversees the
human kingdom, though he has not yet made attempt to claim the throne. The
Fey have shown up on the island, not pleased by the events that have taken place, they have decided they should have a say in who rules the land. All eyes watch the city of
Thraldur to see what will be its next move.
And
then there's the possible dragon problem...a strange order of clerics worshipping the dragons of old has coincidentally appeared at the same time as dragon sightings...
