Thraldur
Seat of the Democratic Council of Sordun, and the capital city of its realm
Demographics
During the time Thraldur was initially founded the city was exclusively built for humans. Though as time went on the population greatly diversified due to historical events, now many races can be found within its walls. Although it can certainly be said that the majority population is still that of the humans.
Government
Up until the year 243 AR the city, as well as the rest of the Kingdom, was ruled by the King and/or Queen of the Human Kingdom of Sordun. Several nobles shared responsibility of government functions. Each district had a noble overseeing it, all city administration was overseen by the Lord Mayor chosen by the monarch. A council made up of members of the middle class represented the interests of the citizens of the city and could be called upon to inform the ruling monarch in order to better make decisions.
Due to the events that took place during the year 243 AR, the cities governing hierarchy was greatly changed. The power no longer resides in a ruling noble class with a monarch serving as the end-all for decision making, but a council of elected officials chosen by the people of Thraldur with a monarch serving as the figurehead. This council is known as the Democratic Council of Sordun.
Defences
The walls of the city itself are constructed from stone and measure some 50ft. tall and 15ft wide. Guard towers line the walls, equipped with ballista. The main entrances to the city are equipped with heavy wooden gates reinforced with iron, and a portcullis. The walls that surround the castle and government district are 60ft. tall and 20ft. wide. Wealthier districts of the city would be gated off from the rest, the walls or fences measuring 30ft. tall and 5ft.-10ft. wide.
Industry & Trade
Thraldur is situated near the edge of the Knight's Forest, the rest of the landscape being mostly plains. The primary export of high value in Thraldur is adamantine, though it certainly isn't in abundance. Other exports include; apples, plums, pears, various berries, cider, lumber, and various game meats along with their pelts. Due to the vast expanse of open plains Thraldur is built on agriculture, being surrounded by vast farms. A variety of root vegetables; potatoes, carrots, turnips. Sheep, cattle, pigs.
Geography
The city is situated around a mound not far west of the Knight's Forest, surrounded mostly by vast open plains with some rolling hills.
Climate
Being situated roughly 288 miles inland from the eastern shoreline, Thraldur and its surrounding region is subject to temperate maritime climates. Meaning moderate humidity with rainfall being a common occurrence year-round, occurring less frequently during Spring and Summer. In the Winter months, frost would be evident, though snow would be rare.
