Half-Elf

Basic Information

Anatomy

Half elves, like their varied parentage, are bipedal and tend to retain the pointed ears, sharp bone structure, and long limbs of their elven parents. Skin color, height, and musculature vary wildly depending on gene dominance. Orcish half-elves more often than not exhibit tusks.

Genetics and Reproduction

Half-elves resemble human gestation periods of approximately nine months. Offspring of half-elves depends on their genetic make-up. If breeding with the same species as one of their parents, the resulting child could end up as a full blood of the given species. In cases where the second partner is an elf, this always results in a full elf child. In cases where there is no shared parentage, the child is considered another variant of half-elf.

In cases where two half-elves conceive a child, the child always results in a full elven child.

Growth Rate & Stages

Half-elves grow at a rate most similar to their non-elven parent, with an extended lifespan. Magical capabilities often develop later in life compared to elves.

Ecology and Habitats

Half-elves, like humans, are quite adaptable; capable of conforming to whatever environment they find themselves in. It is not uncommon for half-elves to experience physiological shifts based on their environment, similar to how elves have shifted to match their environments over time.

Like elves, half-elves tend to do poorly in areas with little magical activity.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Half-elves are omnivores, but often with a vegetarian preference.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Half elves benefit from elven sight and hearing and more often than not, find their connection to the natural world easier than some of their other-parent counterparts such as Humans. However, in comparison to full elves, their overall magical connection is hampered.
