King Flurious
King Flurious is a snow elf and the self-proclaimed ruler of Vyroing, a position he has held for several centuries. Known throughout the Lhodos Tundra and surrounding nations as a tyrant, he is a cruel ruler who cares little for the people beneath him. Flurious has carefully constructed the social structure of Vyroing during his years of rule to empower himself and the nobles that support him while keeping the peasants scrambling to survive. His soldiers are drafted from the noble houses, made up primarily of bastard children and those far down the lines of succession, and selected based on their capacity for cruelty. Only those who view their lessers as sub-humanoid are allowed into positions of power, where they are well treated to ensure they remain loyal to the crown.
Though tyrannical, King Flurious is cunning and appears content at keeping his territory confined to the Lhodos Tundra. His soldiers carefully monitor the only pass through the mountains as well as the few ports located on the kingdom's southwestern coast to keep his people isolated from outside influence. Trapped as they are, he forces many peasants to work his dangerous, poisonous quicksilver mines and exports the goods of their labor. Though the currency earned from these sales is used to purchase precious food, little of it makes its way to the peasants. They receive scantly enough to survive while Flurious and his supporters live in luxury, that gold which doesn't support their extravagant lifestyles being deposited in the king's coffers.
