The Eitris Smithing Competition
The smithing community, after King Rodis II of the Dwarves demanding three treasures from the finest smiths, decided this was an excellent way to keep the spirit of invention alive. So once every two years smiths can enter a competition for 300 gold pieces by making 3 treasures and presenting them to a panel of judges.
History
King Rodis II, the famous despot, was very fond of powerful items, so demanded smiths to make him treasures lest they be executed. The event was copied somewhat by the Elves, ever wishing to one up the other, and it spread to a more friendly event in the spirit of competition and innovation.
Execution
There is a general word of mouth spreading over the course of a month in preparation before they rent out a large hall and have the judges judge the presenter's creations. After a day or two of conference they award the winner 300 gold pieces.
Participants
The judge's are old retired master smiths, looking to sharpen the new generation.
Observance
The day of judging takes place on the 9th of October, but people tend to begin work in September.
