Growth Rate & Stages
Elves remain babies for 2 years before becoming toddlers.
They then remain children, progressively growing at around the same rate humans do, for 60 years before reaching adolescence.
Again, this stage is similar to humans, growing quicker then before, try to self-actualise and becoming more rebellious.
At age 100 they are considered adults by elves, but can choose to become adults at any time before that.

Ecology and Habitats
Due to them being descended from the Feywild, which is highly overgrown by forests and green, they tend to settle in forests in the material plane as well.
While they don't strictly need to live in forests, they do prefer it, and many forests become settled by elves. Signs of this are bridges among tall canopies, and large trees are soemtimes hollowed out to make their homes.

Culture and Cultural Heritage
Beauty is part of elven culture, which is why they spend so much time among nature and learning magic. Some elves spend literally centuries creating beautiful art, sometimes going mad in the process.
Some more elderly elves seek to reunite with the Fey, being descended from them, and the Fey are a species of magic tricksters.

History
In 500BD they emerged from the Feywild to help settle the material plane.
In the Stone War they fought against the dwarves, which was very destructive, possibly because both sides were so evenly matched.
In the AD era they moved away from forests and began settling in other areas.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
They frequently see humans as sad, having nearly endless ambition but very short lives to use it.
Dwarves and Elves are ancestral enemies, and for the members of the species old enough to remember it, conflict often breaks out. However, nowadays they often work together as two creators.
They see half-elves as even more tragic than humans, being directly related to them. They will try to take them and raise them as their own, most frequently, but are often dissapointed by the more human traits they exhibit.
Orcs are supposed to be elves seared with the blood of Gruumsh, so they don't like them. The feeling is mutual, and while they can work together it is frequently begrudgingly.
In recent years they have cultivated something of an appreciation for Dragonborn, being the closest living relatives to dragons, having their scales, tails, intelligence and breath weapons. The response dragonborn have to this varies.
They adore Halflings, their longer lifespans making them easier friends and they often see them as a window into other lives, and in fact invited them into their burrows when the elves moved from the forests.
Tieflings, as equally adept magic casters, often earn ire from the elves, although this usually evolves into magical rivalry rather than malevolence.
