Dragonborn

The closest living relation to dragons. Tall noble clanmen, the dragonborn can stand firm in the winds of gods.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Bipedal, with two arms.
Strong muscular design and skeletal structure, although nearly identical to humans, with a dragons skull.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragonborn lay eggs, if unfertilised they crack easily, leaving yolk covered scales.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragonborn grow quick. Mere hours after hatching they are able to walk.
They spend only one year as babies.
They have the same maturity and size of a 10 year old human at age 3.
At age 8 they experience adolesence, the quick growth of dragonborn does not last forever.
At age 15, they are typically considered mature enough to be called adults.

Ecology and Habitats

Dragonborn prefer to live in clans, at the top of mountains like their ancestral relatives.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They require a little more energy than humans, but the difference is small enough to be legible.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Dragonborn have clans that elect their own leader. They respect this clan leader more than their local government, which is helpfully usually the clan leader.

Facial characteristics

Rough and unchanging scales make it difficult to read their emotions. Facial structure can vary from almost human to entirely dragonlike.
Eye colour can be almost any colour, although usually it is quite similar to the dragonborn's scale colour.

Average Intelligence

Wise and intelligent, fully sentient.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

No additional extrasensory capablities.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Common Etiquette Rules

It is rare to find a dragonborn jester. They are usually straight faced and serious.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Humans, are typically quite scared of dragonborn, but hold a curious fascination with this insight into the dragons.
Elves hold caution against the chromatic dragonborn, and tend to end conversations with the scaly folk very quickly.
Halflings don't care, and even want to have them as friends to help protect them, so are typically rays of sunshine around them.
Orcs have ancestral hate towards dragonborn and the feeling is mutual. In early years they were opposing sides, both travelling and settling, but orcs were raiders and dragonborn didn't like being raided.
