Tempest Forge
The Tempest Forge is the Arcanum’s main workshop, where magical items are crafted under the influence of controlled storms.
Purpose / Function
Forge enchanted weapons, rings, rods, and other arcane devices, blending traditional smithing with pure storm energy.
Design
- Large hall split by ventilation grates that channel howling gales.
- Central forge is surrounded by protective ward rings.
Entries
Massive reinforced doors to keep pressure steady; small side hatches for supply runners.
Sensory & Appearance
- Light dances wildly off polished tools.
- Scent of hot metal and ionized air.
- The floor rumbles with every hammer strike.
Denizens
Stormwrights (specialist smith-mages), apprentices hauling ingots, wind elementals contained in rune cages.
Contents & Furnishings
Arcane anvils, floating crucibles, shelves of half-finished items humming faintly with stored power.
Valuables
Prototype magic weapons, shards of failed enchantments still crackling with residual energy.
Hazards & Traps
Misaligned storm funnels can whip up dangerous mini tempests, flinging tools or sparking arcs.
Special Properties
Any item forged here takes on a faint resonance with wind or lightning, even if not fully enchanted.
Alterations
New stabilizers added after a partial roof collapse from a rogue whirlwind in 342 AR.
Architecture
Thick stormward columns inscribed with swirling runes, walls look half-melted from repeated surges.
Defenses
If breached, built-in vent arrays can unleash a shockwave of force.
History
Where many of Zalara’s famous protective artifacts were born.
Tourism
Viewable from a high catwalk behind protective screens — very popular during student demonstration days.
Always loud — hammers strike, winds rush through overhead vents, and sparks dance over anvils. Static sometimes crawls up your arms.
