Princess Jade Marjoram Rockenson
Jade Rockenson of Earthein is the princess and soon to be the queen of Earthein. With her wedding and coronation soon approaching, she begins making plans on what she will implement and change in her kingdom and people.
Physical Description
Due to a curse she was inflicted upon at a young age, she can be easily made asleep, and can cause difficulty to wake from it.
Her skin tone is a mix of her father's darker skin and her mother's lighter skin, nearly clear of any blemishes or scars. She's a bit on the thinner side, partially due to the curse, but mostly by not eating supper when needed (she often stays in the library and forgets about food while reading). Her hair is dark brown and has some curl to it.
Her face is oval-shaped, a bit small. Her chin is round, sticking out slightly. Her eyebrows are thin and the same color as her hair. she has fuller lips and a wider nose, with her eyes a cool, sharp green
Jade has a small circle on her left shoulder, the outline of it slightly purple. This is a leftover mark of when the curse took place, supposedly entering her from that location.
Jade is ambidextrous, able to use both hands simultaneously at times. She sits and stands with her back arched and up. She walks with smoothness and efficiency as if she were gliding across the floor
She has the inborn ability of
Nakata Seydrony , or nature manipulation. She can change the shape of jade stones and gold, but only these two items.
She dresses in Earthein fashion, but a bit more dressed. She often wears green, from light to dark, but does wear other colors.
Mental characteristics
Princess Jade was born to King Oakenson and Queen Anne after they struggled with infertility. When she was just two years old, she had a nightmare that made her scream at night, the entire night. No one could comfort her except the king, who sang her a special lullaby he made for her. From the nightmare, she’s had trouble sleeping, and the maygen (religious leader) warned her parents that a curse could be upon her, and it may affect her permanently. As a result, her life was very sheltered, her father only allowing her to be escorted to the library with at least ten guards by her side. With her unable to make friends, she became obsessed with reading and learning everything there is about the world and to know every story. She became a familiar face at the library and everyone wanted to hear her read the stories. This upset her father, who wanted to protect her from any harm and banned her from speaking to anyone but the guards who escorted her. She soon became tired of living in fear, worry that things could go wrong, and tried to find a solution to prevent any supposed curse from taking place. What she found instead is a book from the other world and of a different religion. She read it with the other books and found it strange, different…, and relieving. After some study of it, she decided to follow this religion, telling her parents about it and trying to apply it to her life. This did change her personality to some degree, but she still wanted to leave the castle and see the kingdom and the people, especially since she wondered what they were like and if there was anything she could do for them. With her sixteenth birthday, she hoped she could convince her father to visit one of the towns or cities, just to find out. However, before he could approve or prevent it, the curse took place. Her handmaid came to wake her and she wouldn’t wake, no matter what she, or anyone else, did. Soon, other people fell prey to the curse, falling asleep and unable to wake. Nearly the entire kingdom was under it and some from the other kingdoms as well. After a month and a half, her father, the king, found a cure and the kingdom awoke, along with anyone else who fell asleep. Jade, after awaking, talked to her father about her concerns and loneliness, her father promising to make more of an effort to be with her. A few years later, a Sea Crosser rallied up a group of misfits and outsiders and used them to start a fight, and in a case, a small war. The sea crosser managed to kill the Earthein King, and the Guardian of the Island, leaving Earthein leaderless and Myranelynia unguarded. This shook Jade up and brought her grief and sadness, still recovering it to the day the book begins.
Private tutoring of the history and political system of Myranylnia and Earthein and the general history that every Earthein has. She also learned a few skills due to her isolation from others, including gardening, simple defenses, making simple metal jewelry, and bookbinding.
She is the princess of Earthein, soon to be Queen. She has gained the role of mediator between Earthein and the Sea Crossers' Settlement, assembling the Council of Advisors when needed, and resolving small disputes in her kingdom.
She considers learning and knowing the language most of the Sea Crossers' speak an accomplishment since now she can better communicate with them. She keep a small book she personally bound on her desk as a memento of learning how to bind books. Everytime she sees her fiance and sees him wearing the small necklace she made, she feels appreciated and proud of her work.
(Adjust) At a party, Jade had some wine (weak wine is allowed at seventeen). even though she had a little, she got a bit tipsy, hiccuping and occasionally burping. One person accidentally bumped into her and she bleached loudly at the party, everyone staring at her. To this day, she's still embarrassed at it, especially if offered wine at a party.
She experienced grief and sadness when her father, King Oakenson was brutally murdered by an enemy attack against the Kingdom of Earthein. It's believed it was the healer of Earthein that double crossed them and killed him.
Jade is good at learning other languages and teaching them to others. With her love of reading, she learned different views of philosophy and logic, using it to try and find a way to improve her kingdom once she becomes queen.
Personality Characteristics
(Adjust) She wants to rule over her kingdom with grace but still be firm to punish wrong when it happens.
(Adjust) Jade is good at languages and reading aloud. She is also good at taming creatures if they're upset and befriending them. She's terrible at making anything with metal and gems besides a simple weapon and her crown.
She loves books and stories, her horse Jack, and pretty gems and stones.
(Adjust) Patient with people and outcomes. Often looks out for others' best interests, even if she's not the queen or needs to be. She's rooted in her convictions and ideologies and hardly strays from them. Because she spent nearly her entire life in the library, she's well-read in history, politics, philosophy, and culture.
Some of her virtues she learned as a result of her new religion. Even when she struggles with them, she does her best to adhere to them.
(Adjust) Prideful. When she sets her mind to something, even impractical, she'll carry through to it, being stubborn in her ways. Even though she does know a lot of information due to extensive reading, she can be seen as a bit of a smart alec, acting like she knows everything when she may not. Because she’s been protected and sheltered, she’s unaware of how things work and expect things to be given or done in a fast, timely manner.
Even with some of the learned virtues, she still reverts to some of her old traits from time to time.
Social
She has three female friends who are her ladies-in-waiting. They are Rosemond, heiress to the Rose Family, Lettuce, common women married to a potter, and Ebony, a Cloudiaon who moved to Earthein and works as a maid. The three of them may be a strange combination for a princess, but Jade loves them anyway and keeps them as friends. She is betrothed to the prince of Cloudioan, Braxton. While she looks for the good in him, his arrogant and hoity-toity nature makes their relationship rather unstable. Aside from her betrothed, she has one male friend from childhood, Edelweiss, the son of the Captain of the Guards. He often goes with her when she leaves the palace on trips with some other guards and is like an older brother to her.
Mother is Queen Anne and father is King Oakenson.
Holds belief to Christian values, despite her kingdom holding to the superstitious beliefs of Aizokhi.
Generally shy and reserved, coming from her sheltered life. She speaks clearly and smoothly when addressing a crowd yet shakes and nearly vomits afterward. Her gentle and earnest nature makes her charismatic and can win friends and allies fairly easily. However, because of her being well-read, she can come off as high and mighty when it comes to giving advice or explaining something.
Sometimes if she's nervous, she'll hum to herself the lullaby her father sang to her, giving her some peace of mind.
Her go-to hobby is reading, whether re-reading something or reading something new. when she has more free time, she enjoys going to Copperting and appraise some of the gems found there, especially any jade pieces. While in Copperting, she also enjoys watching the gem workers cut and polish the gems and jewelers make jewelry, sometimes being a model for them.
Unlike the past Earthein royals who had their Chamelocat for war and recreation, Jade had a horse brought in from another island and fell in love with it, her inseparable animal companion names Jack.
Her speech is often polite and formal, whether to common folk, her friends, or even her family. She may speak a bit more casually with her family and friends, but she keeps the refined speech as much as possible. She has the Earthein dialect when she speaks Myraneise and has an older American speech when she speaks English (60's ish).

History
Braxton and Jade met not long after Jade's fourteenth birthday. The two were engaged to each other on that day and have courted each other since until Jade is old enough to marry. Though they have their differences and argue time to time, the two care fondly for each other and only want the best for the other.
They would have married at Jade's eighteenth birthday, but she had requested Braxton to wait until she was ready to marry him. Though a bit grudgingly, he allowed it, convincing his parents to hold off the wedding.
Relationship Reasoning
As a way to give hope to Jade that the curse will not end her and to show her she will have a future, her father arranged a courtship with the First Prince of Cloudiaon, Braxton, as her future husband.
Shared Secrets
They have a secret agreement to support each other and wait until both are ready to marry. this started when Jade, worried about how she will perform as the next queen, asked if they could hold off the wedding until a few months later. They each stood by each other when one or the other wasn't ready, and now in the present, they are both ready, but both still remember their promise.
