Keith Peterson is a blunt, drunken, cold outsider... who was elected Guardian. Forced to fulfill the role, he reluctantly trains under the captain of the guards and learns about the world and people he's protecting under Princess Jade 's teaching. At first, all of it is pointless, since he has no interest nor reason to fight for them, but once he learns of the enemy and his plans, he decides to step up to the role, becoming greater than anyone could have imagined.
Physical Description
Body Features
His skin is the paleness of a caucasian American, with some blemishes from being outside. His hands are a little larger than average and rough from some of the physical labor work he's done. His arms and legs are average as well, just ever so slightly thicker from exercise. From his 'habit', he has a belly that he can hide for the most part.
Facial Features
He has a scar, faint from the years, above his jaw on the left side of his face.
Physical quirks
Keith is right-handed. He's often fidgety and will mess or play with something like his shirt or jacket or his hand would simply shake slightly. He hunches slightly, hardly standing or sitting up straight. He walks with swiftness and straightforwardness, hardly deviating where he's going, keeping his track in the direction he wants.

Keith has a high school degree and has an associate's in psychology. He applied for a job as a detective in the police force, completed all the tests required for it, and graduated from the police academy.
Employment
Not long after he graduated from the police academy, he was employed by the local police and worked as a detective for them for about eight years. However, he was fired from his job when he became too personally involved in a case that resulted in the murder of his wife. at first, it was a temporary leave, but then he was fired altogether. He's been unemployed, going off an on with smaller part-time jobs for two years before the main events of the book

He had a biological mother who left him to be taken care of by someone else and adopted by Miles' parents, Peggy and Vincent.
Religious Views
Keith is a Christian. He converted when he was starting his police training and remained so for most of his adult life. His faith waned when he was starting to lose everything, including his wife, job, and home. During his dark time, he turned away but didn't abandon his faith completely. Closer to the events of the book, he started relearning everything he thought he knew and learning more and better things about Christ. However, he's still a little apprehensive about some of it.
