Frontier Session 25/26 Report

Session 25: 15-06-2025

The party starts at the base of the mountain after letting the Yuan-Ti scout go back to the city with a message of peace. Suicu sends his Arcane Eye after him to spy on the city and sees an ancient wall in disrepair, inside there's an overgrown stepped pyramid with a large golden cobra statue on the top. There's a few groups of the reptile creatures and some of the Yuan-Ti moving around and there's snakes in the canals. A large Yuan-ti creature slithering along the ground turns to look and charges at his eye with his sword. The connection is lost after it swipes at it with its huge blade.

They decide to hike up the mountain and find the Temple of the Guardian to kill the beast they saw earlier. Approaching the top of the mountain they see a path leading off to the left to a massive ancient temple complex in the distance. They make it past a plant monster that tried to catch people but Hiron produces a poison that withers the plants by spraying them. Sneaking closer they see a campfire with a group of lizard creatures around it, two of them are magic users.

They ambush the creatures and attack them. Taking out the magic users first they quickly take down the others and prevent one from escaping.

They find some items, a golden thread wrapped around one of the staffs. And a potion with a cloudy liquid.

Session 26: 29-06-2025

Glee takes another look at the piece of golden thread, sees that it is magical and crafted with some kind of unknown machine. From Suicu he learns that its magic from a spell school that he doesn't recognize and seems to fall outside regular magic. Going through the camp he finds some signs of someone who was restrained and has broken free. He tells Jock that there's something or someone hiding in the bushes. Jock rushes past and makes a full circle ending up back at Glee in the camp.

They continue down the path and see another camp of these lizard creatures next to the cavern entrance. Deciding its best to avoid a fight they sneak through the jungle into the cave filled with a thick mist. Sneaking inside they manage to avoid drawing notice from the lizards. Inside this large cave they see the walls are covered in large crude drawings that tell the story of a large cobra headed figure, the demi-God Zehir, being dragged and captured by figures in robes, whom Glee recognizes as the mages from the database recovered in the Thri-Kreen hive. He decides to make sketches and notes of all the drawings.

Jock gets bored and dashes back. In a swirl of mist he catches a glimpse of a woman hiding against the wall. Seeing some tracks on the floor he calls out for them to show themselves and sees a woman with long white hair wearing a breastplate and a sword at her hip. Seeing an arcane focus and sensing magical power emanating from this figure he cries hag and freezes in fear. The woman introduces herself as Aelfynn Tarmary, a warrior from a noble family of Therassia hailing from the city of Almyras. Jock runs off and she follows him finding Glee finishing his sketches and notes. Introducing herself to the rest of the party and taking an interest in the drawings on the wall.

She tells Glee that she has a magic talking sword and they take out Nightblood who seems to be able to talk to it. They catch some of the chatter between the two blades and they seem to be discussing something related to the temple where Nightblood was held at. They decide to sneak deeper into the caves but Glee and Hiron make a lot of noise while stomping through the cave. In the distance they see a large chamber with stone structures build along the walls and there are more drawings around the entire chamber. They hear heavy breathing from a huge creature in the center of chamber but Aelfynn notices that it is sleeping.

Aelfynn sees a patch of scales appear on her arms that look like snakeskin. They stop and everyone checks themselves with Glee jumping out of his suit and seeing that everyone has a small patch of snake skin. Checking the mist again with Hiron it seems like there's something magical inside it that could be the source of the transformation.

Sneaking into the room the creature doesn't wake up and they silently study the drawings on the wall. Seeing some images drawn of the golden thread they found earlier and they Yuan-Ti in strange head dresses shaped like the head of a cobra. They see these robed wizards from the Illium Magocracy placing Zehir in a strange box located in a pyramid with a cobra statue on top. In later images it looks like the Yuan-Ti priests are pulling this golden thread from this box.

Having gathered enough information they decide to sneak out and go to the City of Serpents, possibly going back to fetch the zeppelin. When they approach the exit the loud breathing stops and they hear loud sniffing, looking back, a large crocodile head rises from the mist and stares at them with large black eyes. It gets up to full height reaching almost up to the ceiling it starts to approach the party Aelfynn tries to reason with it but can't understand its guttural language, the creature seeming predatory. Casting a spell to muddle its mind and making it turn and run the other direction. They start running but soon they hear the huge monster charging after them.

At the exit they have a dilemma, going outside might alert the other lizard creatures of their presence. But Aelfynn stops and casts a spell to blind the creature with its head and torso engulfed in darkness. It slows down and this gives them time to run into the jungle where they try to hide but they make too much noise and attract the attention of the other lizard creatures who start approaching. Now going into full flight they start dashing down the path as fast as possible.

Seeing the creature stop outside the cavern and the lizards turn to it, some of them dropping to their knees and bowing to it. They stop and contact the pilot of the ornithopter to come pick them up at the mountain pass. Settling in out of sight to wait for the vehicle to get here they see the lizards in the temple are now starting to play drums and perform rituals and dances in honor of this creature.
