Guild of Arcane Lore

Much of the inspiration and details is derived from Colombia Games

Guild Ranking

The Wizard Societies and Alchemist Guild use the following ranking system for guild members, and only members of the respective guilds can promote members.

Magic-users of different fields of magical studies such as Sorcerers or Psionicists can have guild rank assigned by a committee of any member of the Guild of Arcane lore regardless of the field of expertise.

MAVARI (Apprentice)

The Mavari perform menial tasks, assist with research, run errands, and slowly get instruction in the ways of magic. An apprenticeship can last from 2 to 9 years, although typically this takes about 6 years.

SATIA-MAVARI (Journeyman)

When Mavari reaches a certain level of competence, they are released from the bond of apprenticeship and sent into the world to independently learn and improve their magical abilities.

SHENAVA (Master)

An arcanist who has proven a high level of expertise and has contributed to the guild. Promotion to this prestigious rank involves researching 3 unique spells or potions, donating 3 magical artifacts, and having a written recognition from 6 Shenava. A Shenava can rent a room and laboratory in the Guildhall. They also have full access to the library's restricted section and the artifact vault for study purposes.

VIRAN (Grandmaster)

Only the most accomplished Shenava achieve the rank of Viran. They have attained written recognition from 6 Viran. Viran are accorded great respect and do not pay rent for their accommodation at the guild; however, they are expected to contribute in some manner.

Laws of the Magic

The Wizards (Shek-Pvar) and Alchemy guilds strictly adhere to the following laws:

I

Bring not the scorn of the Kvikir [ordinary folk] upon thy brothers, nor make with thyne art a place for thyself above them.

II

Spread not thy lore, even among thy brothers, without the sanction of thy peers.

III

Keep sacred and free of harm thy house of lore.

IV

Succor not a renegade of the art, but strike him down with thy power, else summon brothers to thyne aid.

V

Make tithe to thine house [chantry] a portion of thyne arcane treasure to thy brother's benefit.
