City of Trikal
The city-state of Trikal has long been distinguished as an intellectual center. The city is famous for the quality of its tutors and poets.
Government
Trikal's ruling and legislative council is governed by the Octarch, an eight-person holy council, consisting of the seven senior Agrikian clerics and the commander of the Iron Guard. One of the clerics is always the Kemelras (Bishop) of Horitar.
Religion
Trikal has a popular gladiatorial Pamesani arena, and is the seat of an Agríkan Kemelras (Bishop) of Horitar, Grigoris el Anagnatos.
Although an Agrikan Theocracy rules the city, it concentrates its efforts on ensuring stability and military strength. Other gods are tolerated, but the worship of Varani (Larani) is frowned on and has struggled over the last decade.
The agrikan clerics are careful not to undermine the city's reputation as an intellectual center and antagonize the general population or nobles.
Infrastructure
The city has two chantries of magical study.
Guild of Arcane Lore: Average quality with 6 masters.
The Sages of the Infinite Weft: An ancient guild that specializes in astrology and divination with 5 masters.
Military and Law
The city's defenses and laws are overseen by the Iron Guard, an Agrikan Fighting Order, supplemented by freeman militia and, on occasion, mercenaries. The Iron Guard is generally well-regarded, as Commander Raphail el Valopoulos does not tolerate corruption.
The city provides one cohort of legionaries stationed in barracks outside the city, as well as several war galleys.
