Naming Traditions

Family names

Among themselves, the immigrants still use parental surnames. The person's given name is followed by the mother's name with the suffix "-bur" and the father's name with the suffix "-zeg."
"I will not write down a novel's worth of names. How do you even keep so many words between your furry ears?"
— an annoyed Elven administrator
However, since most Elves find these overly complicated, many Werewolves have chosen to use appearance-based surnames when interacting with them. For example, someone would go by a name like "Blue-Eye", "Rustpelt", "Goldbeard", or "Longbraid".

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Besides the language of their ancestors, many immigrants learned the language of the local Elf culture.

Common Dress code

Adaptation to warmer climates

Vinalur Werewolves often dress in wide clothes that are wrapped around their body and, if necessary, provide enough material to cover their bestial form. The fabrics themselves are more light-weight than for their traditional counterparts, due to the warmer climates on that continent.
"By the Air Father! They need to put on some pants!" - "Relax. Everything is covered in fur, anyway. ... Why are you even looking at that part of their body?"
— two Elves discussing a group of Werewolf construction workers
Regardless, many hard-working Werewolves tend to go topless or completely nude after transformation. Since their fur evolved for the polar regions, it is usually more than warm enough.   Those who cannot avoid wearing clothes tend to keep the fur on the covered areas short. Since the transformation process is harder to control on Vinalur, they usually need to trim the fur by mundane means before getting dressed.

Avoiding Conflict

"Get those out of my sight! I have no idea how you got them, but they are not yours to flaunt!"
— an Elf taking offence to a Werewolf's attunement crystals
One particular element of the immigrants' fashion are the obscuring shawls. They serve to hide the attunement crystals on a Werewolf's shoulders, since the Elves tend to take great offence to seeing them. In their belief, the attunement crystals mark the Elves as favorites of their gods, so seeing them on a different species raises uncomfortable questions.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Physical strength and the associated muscle mass are seen as most attractive in any gender.   However, many of them adopted the Elven standards regarding body hair. Vinalur Werewolves tend to shave their limbs and torsos to fit in and appear less "animal-like" to the locals.

Gender Ideals

Gender roles are very subtle in Werewolf culture, and mainly show in the context of family planning. However, exposure to Elven ideals has caused a slight shift in that regard.   There is a growing tendency for men to focus on the physically demanding tasks while women focus on the intellectual side. In particular, Werewolves seeking employment in an Elven organization lean into their gender norms to appear more suited for the job.

Courtship Ideals

Live heart to heart, fight back to back.
— a Werewolf saying about couple goals
Flirting tends to revolve around physical attributes such as strength and health. Ideally, a partner should be a valuable ally in all kinds of challenges, be it building a home, acquiring resources, or fighting a rival clan. Therefore, couples often put each other's strength to the test before settling down together.
