Session 38
The Party gathered the body of their fallen friend, Kasras, and continued through the Phasnosh crypts. They headed back into the previous room where they had killed the smaller werewolves and readied themselves to head north through the vault.
Vigwalin checked one of the two remaining doors and heard nothing. He carefully opened the door and stepped into the hallway. About half way through, he heard a disheartening ka-chunk as a pressure plate sank beneath his feet. The door behind him slammed shut and the floor in front of him opened up to reveal a 10-foot deep spike pit. The ceiling opened up and a gelatinous cube slid out. It immediately began moving toward the druid. In an instant, the cube absorbed Vigwalin. He struggled to break free as Bloodbane tried to break down the door. The half-orc barbarian slammed against the door again and again, and finally it yielded. He ran into the room and dragged Vigwalin out by the arm, after the cube had begun to digest him. A tug of war ensued between Bloodbane and the gelatinous cube, and finally he yanked Vigwalin out. The cube followed them into the room with the rest of the Party. It struck out with its pseudopod at the adventurers, dealing damage to Bloodbane. The barbarian slashed at the cube, slicing off a chunk of it that fizzled and shriveled up on the ground. Sir Didymus hacked at it with his rapier, while Typhon launched a fire bolt that dealt tremendous damage and finished off the giant ooze.
The Party searched the remains of the entity, finding a few partially disintegrated coins and little else. The group rested briefly, before deciding to continue. Sir Didymus and Vigwalin headed into the other remaining corridor, while Sylrieth, Typhon, Bloodbane, and Parker Adams remained near the remains of the gelatinous cube. Bloodbane entered the hallway and laid out the door as a bridge over the spike pit. The two groups coordinated with one another and prepared to assault what they believed to be the room where the werewolf from earlier ran into...
