Yoa is the housekeeper at Belmonte House and an employee of the Royal Preservation Society. Though originally from Steffen, Yoa prefers to distance herself from her Ananan heritage, seeing it as a barrier to her and her daughter, Renee's safety and success. As a housekeeper, she is practical and reserved, prioritising duty, stability, and adherence to structure, while suppressing her magical abilities to protect herself and her daughter.

Background

908-924: Early Life

Yoa Kyrada was born as Ioa Kirada in 908 in Steffen, Favont. She was born with the Fallacia ability that allowed her to weave illusions of the mind. Her mother, Eliana, was a pet to Nightwalker, Jan Janson, an art restorer for the Royal Preservation Society. Though pets are respected members of Stiriphesian society, Yoa found the existence degrading and from a very young age knew that she would never want to be one. Her perception was shaped by observing her mother’s reliance on Jan Janson’s success for material comfort. While this was not the dynamic most pets shared with their sponsors, it led Yoa to form an unfavourable opinion of them. As she grew up, she often found her independence and desire to escape The Stiriphese and be her own person was restricted due to her heritage. To counter this, she focused on softening her accent, dressing in a Favontille fashion, and embracing their faith and morals to blend into Favontille society.

924-941: Education and Career

Yoa aspired to become a conservationist for the Royal Preservation Society. At sixteen, she left school to pursue this career but was rejected due to her Ananan identity. Unable to secure her desired position, she accepted a cleaning role within the Society. Determined to advance despite her circumstances, she later transitioned into event management, securing an internship at eighteen. By twenty-one, she became an events manager and spent twelve years overseeing high-profile events across Favont, including at Belmonte House. During this time, she changed the spelling of her name from Ioa Kirada to Yoa Kyrada to better align with Favontille pronunciation.

941: The Reconstruction and Enslavement

The Reconstruction forced Yoa into slavery due to her Ananan heritage. She was stripped of her possessions, home, and job, and her name was replaced with the ID code ESP-07892. Jan Janson had offered her the role of a pet prior to the Reconstruction, but again, Yoa had rejected this not only due to personal prejudice but because she preferred the structured professionalism of servitude over personal dependency. Therefore, Jan Janson secured her a position as housekeeper at Belmonte House in an effort to protect her. Though she remained under the governance of the Royal Preservation Society, she now served Princess Listelle.

941-947: Jerome and Renee

In her new role as a housekeeper at Belmonte House, Yoa formed a relationship with Jerome, the butler. In 942, they had a daughter, Renee, who inherited the Fallacia ability. From an early age, Yoa gave Renee chamomile to reduce her magical ability and avoided teaching her how to use it. Instead, she demonstrated controlled applications to prevent accidental exposure. In 947, Jerome, who had been struggling with the knowledge that Renee would grow up as a slave, committed embezzlement to provide financial security for their family. He was caught, tried, and publicly executed, with Yoa and the staff of Belmonte House forced to witness his death. Jerome never implicated his family and took full responsibility for his actions. His death devastated Yoa, but she remained stoic and dutiful, respecting the law. Rance, who had advised Jerome on financial matters, evaded responsibility and refused to acknowledge his role in the crime.
