Inquisitor Jovic Balan is an Inquisitor hailing from the continent of Ortis, and was a member of the Order of the Xenoplanar Hunters, now a member of the traitorous and insane Chaos Walkers. A veteran Inquisitor highly considered to be one of the next most likely Inquisitor Commander promotions alongside his longtime comrade and ally Regis Harin, he is a highly experienced hunter of all things xenoplaner, professing to be a specialized expert in the profession and study of demons, their societies as it could be called, and especially their hunting and extermination. In recent years it was noted that Balan became more and more reserved and withdrawn, going on deeper and longer missions away from the light of the Empire. Believed to be a man of peerless intelligence, fearsome willpower, and utter fanatacism to his cause, he is regarded as one of the finest products of the Imperial Assembly training procedures.
As of 28 Hes, 1034 PFE (04-28-34), he along with his entire Order including their Order Commander of Gralis Urisal are declared Traitorous Insa Terminatus and are to be terminated on sight with extreme prejudice if encountered by any and all Imperial forces. Balan and his order's fall to darkness is not entirely clear yet, but what is clear is the fact that something utterly mad has taken hold of the Inquisitor, as reported by his strange behavior and obsessions with xenoplanar and potentially demonic or devil based weapons of mass destruction that he seems to be searching for. Reported by Lower Inquisitors Yoruichi and Morgana, he was seen with a collection of rogue mercenaries and soldiers deep inside of a cave before fleeing from the Inquisitors. His whereabouts place him at The Black Fortress, where he is believed to have been making his lair.
After pursuit, it was confirmed that the Black Fortress had become a new but shortlived home base for a budding heretical headquarters of a new, dark Order: The Chaos Walkers. Steeped in black arts and dark heresies of demons and extraplanar corruption, The Chaos Walkers held a new alignment and regime of belief that was entirely different from their former allegiances. The Party, including Yoruichi, Xo, Flapjack and Carmin infiltrated and gutted the base of all heretical insurgents, before it was granted to them as a gift bastion by Immortal General Shakan in a Special General Gathering of The Assembly after they resolved and stopped the attack upon the Imperial capital of Setrak via venturing deep into the depths of The Underground.
Balan remains on the run, his threat of having obtained a Mana Bomb wide and at large, hanging over the heads of both Imperial Citizen and Inquisitor alike.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Balan is denoted as being a little under six feet tall but of stocky build and nearly always now inside his Syrias tactical heavy powered plate armor. He is pale of skin and bears stringy, thinning black hair. His eyes are a deep brown and sunken into his skull.
Body Features
The armor that denotes his body covers most of it from sight, but his skin is denoted as being almost unnaturally pale.
Facial Features
The rebreather that mars his face covers his nose and what remains of his mouth, assisting in the process of breathing. His eyes are sunken into his skull and he constantly seems tired and upset.

The rebreather and the custom made Syrias plate are easy identifiers to recognize him.
Physical quirks
Balan bears a scar along his left cheek and walks with a slight limp out of his armor.

Balan is noted as having a unique ability to be highly resistant to magic that is deceptive and manipulative in nature.

Balan is always wearing his powered armor and wielding his custom submachine gun, as well as other various artifacts and items, and finally around his right wrist is always wrapped and bound the silver necklace he gave to Mira and found on her body.
Specialized Equipment
The custom forged pattern Syrias heavy powered armor with a power cable connected submachine gun, granting the weapon further magical properties via the suits power unit. Furthermore his rebreather is believed to have been enhanced further post implantation to provide benefits such as resistance to poisons, gases, other toxins, allowing him to breathe in a void, and more.

Personal history
Balan seems to have been abandoned by his parents from an early age and left to survive on his own in the streets of Redmane. This hard upbringing of only relying upon oneself would forge an extremely powerful individual into being that would be able to endure the hardships he had been given and fight through them to eventually become an Inquisitor. Recruited into the Assembly and taken to Setrak to be inducted into the school by one now deceased Inquisitor Cerix, Balan was noted as being a very tough both physically and mentally inductee.
Able to endure the harships of the training and education that was required to become an Inquisitor. Quickly he established himself as dominant amongst his class and would graduate second ranked only behind one Kest Harin. The two would quickly form a close friendshp as they were in fact assigned to one another as Lower Inquisitors, Harin's intelligence and strategic thinking being enhanced through Balan's unbreakable will and strength and physical power.
Education
Balan was educated at the Assembly Inquisitorial School like all members of the Assembly.
Employment
For his entire professional and adult career, he has been an Assembly Agent. At first, Balan followed his friend and partner in to the Prime Order, a general purpose order of the Assembly with one of the highest membership numbers. Although Balan was recorded as having a high enough and mechanically measured enough willpower to join the illustrious and dangerous ranks of the Xenoplanar Hunters. This order brought Balan far away from his stabilizing friend who had brought much order and sanity to his life. Now he was entrusted with highly dangerous, heretical and downright insane technology, information and missions without his friend who had sought a more standard and normal life due to meeting his then soon to be wife.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Balan has various achievements and accomplishments that are attributed to him in both his schooling and professional career. He set the still standing records for exposure to demonic and hellish energies without major injury or corruption. He set the again still standing record for mental fortitude against all forms of mental manipulation magic.
Failures & Embarrassments
One of the largest failures Balan ever endured was the failure to track down and destroy the leader of a cult of Bane, an ancient god of hatred. This cult leader had figured out the name of the Inquisitor tracking him, that being Balan. Balan through reconaissance figured out that as a sacrifice to their foul god, they planned to murder the family of those they hated the most, that being the Inquisitor who sought to destroy their cult.
Balan failed to locate them in time, and an entire small town, as well as Balan's budding relationship with a woman he deeply loved and who had for the first time, assumed the role that Harin had had since they had separated, were killed.
Mental Trauma
The greatest traumas that Balan has endured were his harsh and cruel upbringing in the slums of Redmane as an uncared for and abandoned orphan, he never had a mother or father to guide him and love him and show him any amount of right from wrong or teachings of morality and family.
The more destructive one to his sense of self and functionality and sanity were the murder of all of the residents of the small town of Gesa, including his what would have been soon to be wife named Mira. Balan himself found her charred corpse, only recognizing her via the clutched, blackened and charred hand holding a small, silver pendant recreation of the Eye of the Assembly, how they were able to easily locate her.
Harin himself took leave to go and console his friend, personally helping him burying her outside of the village and taking him to Setrak to take his mind off of the loss, but his dear friend who had already been changed was never the same.
Intellectual Characteristics
Balan is noted as being highly intelligent in regards to combat tactics and strategy as well as overarching plotting, forward thinking and schemeing. As such this makes his going rogue both shocking and alarming, for the damage such an intelligent combat focused Inquisitor could cause is high.
Morality & Philosophy
Balan is known to have a very 'the strong survive, the weak die' mentality after the tragedy of losing his lover, the only one who had understood him aside from Harin. In fact, Inquisitor Harin worked with Balan after his friend's tragic loss, and was appaled at the methods and strategies that his once close friend would use.
In the most infamous instance of this, Balan allowed a group of defenseless citizens to be used as bait for a roaming demonic band of feral gnolls from The Abyss. Once the beasts began ravaging the civilians who had been tricked into traveling into the path of the pack under the guise of being actually taken to safety, the Inquisitors intervened with their retinues.
In the ensuing scrum of combat, Balan was grievously wounded and nearly killed when a massive gnoll swept at the Inquisitor in a moment of his focus being elsewhere, swiping at his head. Contact was made while the Inquisitor tried to dodge it was too slow, his jaw was entirely torn off. The poison of the gnoll's claws immediately began to act, and the healing medicine of the temples was nowhere near this open field in Ortis. Taken to a nearby city after being stabilized, he was given a stabilizing prosthetic that acted as a jaw replacement and assisted in helping him breathe, thus the rebreather that he is known to wear.

Motivation
Balan's motivations have changed throughout the years. Currently his motivation for doing whatever he is doing is unknown, although is thought to rely perhaps upon the change and degredation of his mind following the various hardships he endured combined with the rather dangerous and esoteric nature of his Order.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Balan is noted that while he is an intelligent strategic mind, he is more savvy and adept at physical confrontation, being suprisingly strong, a strength that is only enhanced via his armor, as well as his raw willpower that makes him very hard to put down.
A major ineptitude and inability he had was that of conversation, persuasion, and general interaction. This is where his partner, Harin would take over.

Balan is known to care for the ancient Old World game of Kingdeath, finding it soothing, and he hates disorder, xenoplanar entities and specifically gnolls.

Balan is denoted fairly recently as being religious as all Inquisitors are required to be, and believing in the Church of Harbinger. Even very close to his apparent defection and betrayal he professed that he believes Harbinger is the true god of the Empire and its people, generally holding very safe views.
