The Black Fortress

The Dark Cells in an unknown and somewhat enigmatic structure that was seemingly built by one of the ancient peoples of the Old World itself. A truly ancient structure dating back to even thousands of years prior to the War of Consolidation, its original purpose isn't entirely known, but it is believed it was a sort of guard post to watch and contain items or things held inside The Dark Cells

Some unique alterations and openings inside the lower levels of the fortress have been estimated to be made sometime in the ancient times before the Empire, seemingly in order to gain more access the Dark Cells.

The architecture of The Black Fortress is denoted with a strange, dark stone that is believed to be obtained from a unique and up to the current day unknown source. It appears to be very tough, as well as counteractive to extraplanar forces, making it very secure against xenoplanar incursions.

The Black Fortress sports typical defensive measures of a heavy fortress, those being heavy, tall walls, arrow slits, a double portcullis gate behind a heavy iron/steel gate. Along with that it boasts some unique and strange defensive measures. A known feature is that of the Iores Stone, or the dark stone the fortress is made of. Extraplanar beings, magic, and any other forms of interaction with non-Material Plane objects is highly dampened. Summons from other realms, magical items and spells originating from other planes, all cease functionality or are highly diminshed.    Along with this, the Black Fortress bears a highly unique magic cannon that has never been able to be replicated in its design and has been outright banned from its reproduction as it is believed to channel ancient divine/mana magic. Known simply as the Dark Cannon, it has never been fired in the Empire's history, only being fired in the War of Consolidation

The Black Fortress is believed to have been built in the ancient times before The Empire, and believed to watch or contain the Dark Cells. It was utilized as a major fortification by the Rebel Forces as Edrias, one of the last continents in the ill-fated 'Last Alliance'. Notably, Harbinger himself led the battle here, destroying one of the walls with his own blows, that to this day has never been recovered due to the unknown nature of the stone utilized to build it.   After the war, it become some what of a derilict. The Empire searched the extensively expansive Dark Cells, noting various holding chambers, traditional prison cells, and other unknown and undescribed areas. The government of the Empire is extremely tight lipped historically about The Blac Fortress and The Dark Cells, but the simple fact of the matter is that it was truly never abandoned, for the potential secrets and danger that could be unleashed from whatever resides in The Dark Cells that The Empire knows about that they are not stating.
