The council's grand agora

At the center of the capitol inside Loekann, where the embassies meet, stands the building in which the council of four meets to attend to the most important interspecies matters.

Purpose / Function

The agora was built a very long time ago, at the time of the first meeting with the dwarves. It first served as both a market and a political place between the two peoples, but soon assumed a more exclusively political role. The only trades negotiated were governmental, and the market relocated. From this point, it has been used as it is today, to discuss interspecies laws, solve crisis and let all peoples evolve while making sure no other will suffer as a result.

Alterations

The agora has had two major changes since its creation.   The first happened when the elves stated manifesting interest for being a part of the community. After the creation of their embassy, the agora was extended to grant the elves a seat and a working place.   The second took place upon the humans arrival. They too were willing to be included in the continent's politics, and the same operation happened.   The discovery of the orcs a few centuries ago raised the question of wether the agora would need to be altered again, but it seems the orcs are to fractured as a people to start considering global integration yet.

Architecture

The agora is located at the center of the kann ministry and the other races embassies. As the building links those four others together, it is not surprising to find parts of every species architectures.   Each embassy fades into the agora, but instead of stopping abruptly, they all intertwine and mix, giving it a unique aspect, as to show how several peoples uniting as one can achieve wonders.   The building is composed of several entry points from the embassies, some offices, waiting rooms and at the center of it all is the debating room.   The debating room is a great cylinder with a glass ceiling in the form of a dome. From the ceiling hangs a chandelier made of Sunlight stones which stores sunlight and illuminates the room when the council unites during darker days.   The four seats, along with desks, are disposed as a square on platforms around the room, at around half its height. There is a slight difference in height for each seat, adjustable via a kann system, so that everybody's head is at the same level.   The assistants have their own desks on the same platform as the counselor, but withdrawn enough that they can see and hear everything, while talking only with the counselor they assist.   On the floor, at the center, an elevating platform can carry whatever the council requires. Sometimes, they call on experts of certain fields to obtain advice, or they could present mockups of projects for approbation.   Finally, on the highest level, several rows of seats are disposed for ministers and delegates of all kind to assist to the council's meetings.

History

The greatest decisions of Merhendiv were taken inside the agora.   The first deals between kanns and dwarves, organized with the first dwarf king himself, and their surrendering after the war that followed his death, were negotiated here.   When the elves appeared, and after the dwarves attacked them, it was here also the ceasing of hostilities was pronounced, as well as the elves integration to the community, and later as the humans invaded Merhendiv, it was decided to offer them to be a part of it.   Nowadays, the orcs are at the center of all debates. Nobody knows what their intentions are, and communication with them is far from easy. Some claim they are beasts to be hunted down, while others think they are a rising civilization that should be left alone for now.   One thing is certain, this decision will once again change the face of Merhendiv.
