Loekann
At the center of Merhendiv is the territory of the Kanns. They do not distinct the overall land from their gigantic city-state, or what could be considered its capitol.
Industry & Trade
The first question that may come to mind when first visiting Loekann is: how did they build all this? The Kanns are small and weak, that much is true, but they are also the smartest creatures on Merhendiv. They have a mind of innovation, and it can never be satisfied. When building Loekann, they invented machines to carry the heavy materials. While the city has expanded, and representatives of other species also live here, most of its inhabitants are still inventors. Even within the Kanns though, some can be doctors, politicians, traders, or even law enforcers. Whatever their species and job, all benefit from Kann technology.
Infrastructure
The Kanns are the most advanced species of Merhendiv. Therefore, it is not surprising to find all kinds of mechanical marvels everywhere in Loekann. The first detail a stranger might notice, is that there are almost no actual house anywhere in the vast city-state. Instead, its inhabitants live in buildings far too tall for them. Upon looking closer, one would take notice that they do not live on their own, but rather in small communities. In fact, due to the lack of space compared to the number of inhabitants, the Kanns have had the idea of creating some kind of inn, in which every chamber would be completely autonomous regarding food, water, and everything else a resident could need. The very rare houses that can be found throughout the city are usually great inventors' workshops, in which they sleep as to not lose too much time. The city-state could be divided in several smaller towns for the most parts, places where the population concentration reaches incredibly dense peaks. Travellers are advised however, that the trip from one town to another even within the state are not quite safer than what lies outside, for many parts of Loekann are places the Kanns call mechanical jungles. Those are places in which their wonders have become nightmare, and are acting on their own accord, creating a brand new mechanical ecosystem within it.
History
As for all things the kanns do aside from their inventions, not much is known about the history of Loekann. However, the dwarves' archives seem to indicate there used to be very wide gaps of nature between two kanns houses. Some villages could take days to get through, still you would only meet a handful of little wooden huts. After the two species engaged in trading, the kanns got new and better materials for their homes and inventions, and started to gather more around a central point to facilitate their transit. The species expanding rapidly, the city covered more ground day after day and evolved along with kann technology, until it became what it is today.
