Fountain Mind

The Fountain Mind is an oracle of myth, said to reside within the isolated walls of the great Caldera of Central Nefyran.

Wisdom of the Tides

Oracle of the tideheart, the very presence of her people — let alone her own — is the subject of myth all across Nefyran. Few manage to find themselves exploring the lands within the caldera, and those who have often report that they found nothing in the great vastness of the place. Within, they found scattered villages of cloistered folk, few faces with whom to inquire, fewer still who spoke the tongue of any traveler who found them. Though many know the myth of the Fountain Mind, none have come to find her, nor learn of her whereabouts.

Prophetic Cycles

Revered by her people, this Oracle of the Tideheart is one protected with life and limb by both her people and dedicated forces which devote themselves to the continuation of the prophetic cycle. One of the earliest historical prophecies surrounding the Fountain Mind was this: For an Oracle to have their life taken too soon, the cycle itself suffers in kind. The people have taken this to mean that the untimely death of their Oracle, especially at the hands of others, would mean that the line of succession would be disrupted, or halted altogether.   Bloody battles have been waged on the Tideheart stage by agents seeking to end this cycle themselves, which brought out the need for the formation of her Tideguard, who defends her to their last breath, no matter the threat at hand. Thus far, their success rate is 100%.

Those Who Inquire

It was only within the past decade that some did succeed in finding this fabled figure, learning she was indeed more flesh than myth, and heard her words firsthand. These agents of the Alabaster Hand, missionaries of Atreimus, chanced upon a procession leading directly to the well-hidden village where she made her home. Her Tideguard was fiercely protective, forcing the missionaries to depart the instant they heard her prophetic words.   She spoke of a kingdom she knew nothing about, of a family whose faces she'd never see, and predicted the way a yet-living family would find its posthumous retribution and return to a throne they yet sat upon. Given these circumstances, the missionaries happily departed from her home, amused by the tall tales she spun, under guise of prophecy. When they returned to the Hand with their report, however, they were the only ones who found humor in her words.
