Seek a new dawn, in Malkora!

Ba'Logor

There is cold that is unforgiving, and there is cold that settles into your marrow with a deathly chill. This is what you will find, should you venture too far north.
— Urisian knight's warning
Ba'Logor is a region in Northern Nefyran that is icy and snow-covered, the northern neighbor of Uris Halnaa. Known for being a harshly cold and unforgiving region, its geography is marked by frost and decay and boasts an wide variety of strange plant life.

Holy Lands of the Right Hand

Ba'Logor is said to have been the homeland of Kora, the Dawnbringer, in the days prior to the coming of the New Dawn. Because of this historical link, the lands of the far north are considered holy lands, occupied by faithful of Vosra who do not permit visitation by outsiders.

Sunwalkers

The native populations of Ba'Logor are hardy folk who live well-equipped to handle the frigid climates of the region around them. The Ilogari, as most have come to know them, have been known to travel much throughout their history.   With the northern cycle of shifting daylight-to-darkness ratio, the Ilogari developed their lifestyles with careful consideration to the phases of both the sun and moon, their coincidences, and the times of year. The Ilogari language has many words and phrases used to describe the sun and the times of day, with varying shifts in meaning to imply urgency and the passage of time.

Even the Cold
Though visitors are seldom, if ever, permitted in the northern settlements, pilgrims still make the journey to Ba'Logor to pay respects to their patron, Kora.   There are public pilgrimage sites available in the region's central and southern lands, though most pilgrims only venture to the southernmost lands before being turned away by the region's native climate.

Lasting Impressions

Despite their travels, some resulting in generations-long resettlements, they have always been known to return to their homeland after some time. Oftentimes, without so much as a trace of their prior settlement.   All that remained of their presence was the memories formed with the native folk they cohabitated with, and their impact on their local languages and idioms. Many of their sun-based idioms linger with the folks they leave behind, in spite of their very contained cultures and lack of desire to spread their cultures beyond their own settlements.
