Priest
Type: Divine
The discipline employed by priests is known as thaumaturgy. It involves calling on the gods to perform miracles. There is, of course, a distinction between, say, an ordinary priest who oversees a church, and one who is a true thaumaturge, but that is only a matter of degree. While Christianity is the largest religion in the West, any religion that has gods or spirits can have priests. One thing that connects all priests, however, is devotion; thaumaturgy depends entirely on the relationship between the priest and their god — without that god’s favor, the priest cannot use their magic.
Priest Concepts
- Chosen: You have been selected by a god, or the fates, to be their agent on Earth. Willing or not, you must learn and master the new powers at your disposal. Then, you must either fulfil your destiny or defy it.
- Cleric: You are a faith healer, a divine guide, and shepherd to your flock. For you, your faith revolves around serving your community.
- Paladin: You are a holy champion of your god. A warrior, you seek out the foes of your deity and smite them down with divine power.
- Shaman: You call down the gods and negotiate with them for power and protection. You know that the gods aren’t kings in distant heavens, but can be sought out in the living world.
- Witch Hunter: You are an exorcist — a guardian against supernatural evil — trained with wards and mystic tools to combat it wherever it might rear its head. For you, the divine is a pragmatic thing; a power wielded to keep worse powers at bay.
