Vault of Glass

Home of the inscrutable Emeter, the Vault of Glass is a glib expression of its name's essential paradox. In terms of its publicly known footprint, it is the smallest headquarters of all of the Fabricator Enclaves. No one outside the most senior members of Emeter know what lies behind the deceptively transparent facade of the Vault. The building itself is a squat, nearly square building with a flatly vaulted roof. It appears to be constructed entirely from alloy support struts and perfectly clear armaglass, its ribs and spans on display for all to see. This makes the building look completely empty, with beams supporting transparent floors with no obvious doors or air locks. No matter the weather, the panes are always clean and clear. An apron of open, bare supercrete surrounds the building for a kilometer on all sides, leaving no cover for a clandestine approach and creating a sense of utter exposure for any visitors who step out onto its nearly seamless grey expanse.   It is presumed that the Vault of Glass is, at best, a complete ruse, a sham of a building meant to project exactly the level of cheap mystique its name and appearance suggest. Some view it as a naked challenge, declaring the power of the enclave in a brutal display of invulnerability. The few fools who have dared to cross the apron and try to access the glass find it confined in a seemingly impregnable layer of energy fields. Only a single recorded assault has ever been made on the building, involving a hijacked aerial vehicle. An attempted kamikaze run at the building after a torrent of high energy and high caliber ordinance was loosed on it to no effect ended in the apparent disappearance of the craft. All footage from the event shows the vehicle diving into the building at supersonic speeds and then simply vanishing, with the edifice and its surrounding apron no worse for wear than the spent casings and errant craters and scorch marks in the supercrete.
