Hawkers
An unlikely collection of smugglers, dwarf sympathizers, loyalists to house Orcheohyle, and those who just revile the Mavros, a movement known as the Hawkers has developed to oppose the new royal line of Agryos. Revolutionaries of a kind themselves, the line of Mavros have brought many changes to the political and social scenes of the western shore of King's Bay that have disrupted the ways of life for a variety of people. In response these disparate folk who may have been adversaries in the past have united to see the the current rulers displaced or weakened.
Named so for the ties with trade and flight from direct confrontation, the Hawkers have come to adopt the symbolism of a bird of prey for their covert communications and limited iconography.
Strong advocates of a more adversarial position against the dwarves, the new royal house has disrupted trade with and invoked violence against neighboring dwarven nations and colonies within Agryos. Tensions that could lead to war and purges have risen, with major disruptions to trade across the border and between settlements. Merchants and craftsmen who have developed social and economic ties with the stout folk are counted amongst the ranks of the Hawkers for their reluctance to give up these connections or ruin them by paying the crown taxes on such trade.
While most of house Orcheohyle has been destroyed, they had blood ties and loyalties with many other noble lines in Agryos and the aristocracy of wider King's Bay. The seat of power being moved from the Sikropo to Asmenio placed the capital in more secure lands, but it also allowed the plots of enemies to more easily fester in the ruin of the past. New lords appointed to rule from the seats of fallen enemies are challenged to earn the trust of their charges while suppressing lingering dissenters. Nobles are counted among the ranks of the Hawkers for their steadfastness and recalcitrance in the face of calls for new allegiance and whispers of honoring old ones.
As ever the bands of rogues and scofflaws resistant to any liege or taxman lurk ready to take advantage of opportunities to raise their own station or capital can be counted amongst the Hawkers who find the tight economic grip and imposing martial influence of the Mavros disruptive to their way of life.
