Castle Kedropras

A new palace and fortifications befitting the cadet branch of the royal Mavros lineage, and seat of Kedropras County is being constructed outside the harbor town of Pyrgolimen. The former counties of the region once loyal to the deposed Orcheohyle dynasty were broken and rearranged to form a new seats in Kedropras for the Mavros, and for their allies in Aetion County along the border with Echtarfal. The former seat of the county was devastated during its siege, and a new royal palace for Count Mavros and a castle for his troops is being built overlooking his new domain.   Positioned on a ridge overlooking the harbor and fertile plains, a tall palace and its gardens are protected by a curtain wall. An outer bailey and more utilitarian fortifications surround the luxurious inner palace. Farther from the harbor than its predecessor, the new Castle Kedropras has a more symbolically commanding presence above the small folk, watching over them from a distance sufficient to spare it from the scents of the fields and fishmongers.   The lands of Kedropras County are prosperous and bountiful enough to make work on the new castle progress earnestly, but the tastes of Count Mavros are refined and his aspirations grand. New rooms and features are continuously added, with a stream of consulting architects and engineers passing through the project. Maneuverings to build the wealth and power of his cadet branch of the Mavros line are also persistent and ambitious, befitting such a regal person. The count also often uses the continued state of repair of the castle as a premise for his visits to the seats of his peers, under guise of examining their architecture to inform his own creation, and in passing he brokers many deals.   Some rumors swirl that the count has placed himself in perilous debt with his grand unfinishable palace, but to whom few can agree. If it is ever completed it will surely rival the kings palace in Silver Towers, and some whispers suggest this very comparison is what delays the deed. If Castle Kedropras keeps its veil of scaffolding the underlying grandeur of its opulence will never outshine his majesties residence.
