Aureplagia
Along the narrows of the Mercatorum Straight, once the heart of the Empire of Aupstelus the sprawling city of Aureplagia climbs the remnant hills of the Terra Dulces Custodes and its tightly packed docks bustle with trade and fishing vessels. The city stands opposite the richly adorned Murus Petali palaces of the western shore of Scepterstone and serves as an inner arbiter to the rich trade routes of King's Bay.
Perhaps the most diverse and metropolitan settlement on Lorgaire today, Aureplagia boasts enclaves for several tribes of dwarfkin, elfkin, and even the ogres hold an embassy. The architecture of the city reflects its many cultural and engineering influences, with numerous ancient ogre structures indicating the longstanding settlement of the area, parks and green avenues displaying the exotic blooms of Rynabor, and drainage and refuse systems operated by the stout folk to cleanse the streets.
The Perla Platea, or pearl plaza, boasts the longest standing Ring Gate on Lorgaire, with several wide avenues and connecting bazaars and market squares, all overseen by the Coin Gate Tower. Many specialty markets exist within Aureplagia to trade exotic wares arriving from Perla Platea or more mundane routes, supplying artisans and scholars renowned and refined in their crafts.
As a center of culture the city also boasts shrines and enclaves to every known religion and god, including many that are no longer worshipped and have lost their names to time. A great number of libraries, schools, and academies can be found in Aureplagia, to train every manner of lowly craftsman and warriors to the high lords and mages. Many folk find their way into the city to guide their future.
Sprinkled among the tightly woven tapestry of the city are many palaces and castles, both decrepit and luxurious, which have served the courts and armies of the emperors, dukes, and kings of the region for thousands of years. Some of these longstanding structures, including the ruins of their ogre predecessors, bear the scars of many historical disasters and wars, beyond even the Cataclysm. The bones of Aureplagia have persisted through many ages and the proclamations of generations of prophets speak of it standing long into the future, bringing some comfort to its current residents.
